Where I’m From Poem
I am from novels, from tires, and bicycles.
I am from the living room, the sound of laughter, the television playing.
I am from the daffodils, the roses.
I am from lighting the Menorah on Chanukah and perseverance, from Melissa and Allen and John.
I am from humor and determination.
From “always do your best” and “life isn’t fair”.
I am from going to temple on Sundays, lighting the candles on Shabbat.
I’m from Sacramento and Poland, challah and soup.
From the darkroom in which grandma developed pictures, from the teeter-totter my grandpa played on in his backyard as a child, from the apartment where my dad flew flaming paper airplanes out the window.
I am from the scrapbooks hidden in the hutch that hold snapshots from the past.
“Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)” Green Day Lyrics Pictures
The song “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)” by Green Day is about living life to the fullest. It is about the decisions you will have to make during your lifetime while also remembering the past and where you came from. In the first image, I used the quote, “Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go.” I showed this in a picture by having a person grab another person’s wrist. The second picture’s quote is, “It’s not a question, but a lesson learned in time.” This quote is expressed by having her thinking as if she is questioning something. “Tattoos and memories and dead skin on trial,” is the quote I used for my third image. In the picture, a girl is lying on a bench as though she is “dead” and along her arm, the word memories is written to represent the “dead skin on trial” and since memories is “tattooed” onto her arm, it shows the “tattoos and memories” line of the song. While I was creating the images on Photoshop, I used Levels, Color Balance, and Hue/Saturation to “WOW” it. I also utilized the text box to drop in the words of the lyrics.
