Near and Dear
My mom is my “near and dear.” She helps me with difficult homework (which, trust me, is not an easy thing to do), gives great advice, and bakes amazing from scratch chocolate-chip cookies to cheer me up. My mom also shares my love of books, which I can thank her for since she’s the one that mainly got me into reading. Overall, my mom is the best mom I could ask for.
Special Place
Books are a portable kind of special place. You can take them anywhere you want. While you may travel while reading or just sit in one place, they take you to other worlds, times, dimensions, and so much more. The lessons that a book teaches you are amazing, and I think that these lessons have really shaped the person that I am today. Being a book nerd, my special place consists of hundreds of books, whether in my overflowing book case, in stacks around the house, or from the library. I’ve been reading ever since I was little. The first book series I remember really liking was the Junie B. Jones, and then later, the Fudge books, and from there, my book collection grew. Now, some of my favorite books (I can’t pick a favorite) are the Percy Jackson series, Maximum Ride series, Divergent series, Hunger Games series, Maze Runner series, the Sisters Grimm series, and so much more. I think that what I like most about my special place is that no matter what is going on and wherever I go, I can always keep these stories close to me and can forget about my life for just a little while.
