Daily Robot Goals

Nov. 18, 2015

  • You should not be adding anymore missions to your robot.  What you have is what you have at this point.
  • Your team should do at least 3-4 practice runs today from beginning to end.  Make sure everyone knows how to put on attachments and get to the programs.
  • Mr. Gipson will be making sure your robot only has the programs needed
  • You need to think of a team cheer today.  Something real short like “Gooooooo Garbage Gargantuans!”
  • We will be ending robot work a little early today to practice presentations.
  • You only have TODAY and TOMORROW to put finishing touches on!  USE TIME WISELY!!!

Nov. 12, 2015

  • We will be taking team photos first thing today.
  • Continue working on your programs and attachments.
  • We will meet 2 more times before the tournament!  USE TIME WISELY!!
  • You will all be going to Mrs. Emerson’s class at 3:10.

Nov. 10, 2015

  • Your team needs to spend some time today talking about the scrimmage and what you think you need to work on with your robot.  Come up with a plan and make sure EVERYONE is on board.
  • You need to tell Mr. Gipson your plan before you get started.
  • Mr. Gipson will be sitting down with your team to organize your programs better and make sure you don’t have any unnecessary files on your robot.
  • Every minute counts!  We will only meet 3 more times before the tournament!!
  • We will need to take team photos again.  Not everyone was at the scrimmage.

Nov. 5, 2015

  • You should not add ANY NEW programs or attachments today.
  • You should ONLY practice your current programs on the table in order.
  • The scrimmage is TOMORROW.  USE YOUR TIME WISELY!!
  • Please take any EXTRA parts out of your team’s tub.  You should only have your robot and attachments in there.

Nov. 3, 2015

  • You HAVE to practice your missions in order today!
  • Decide who is doing each mission.  Remember, only two people can be at the table at a time during the competition.
  • You should load all the programs onto one robot.
  • You should NOT be creating any new attachments or programs unless you have completed your first four missions.

Oct. 29, 2015

  • You should run through your 2-4 programs like you are at the competition today several times.  Remember, you only get to use ONE robot during the competition.
  • Remember to work together as a TEAM!  There shouldn’t be any arguing!
  • Make sure everyone knows which mission they are going to run, how to put on attachments and which order to go in
  • Continue working on programming.
  • Teams will go to Mrs. Emerson’s class to work on projects and team building activity

Oct. 27, 2015

  • Your goal is to have 4 missions COMPLETE by the end of this week (Thursday)!
  • Begin running through the missions in order.  Practice who will run mission 1, mission 2, mission 3, and mission 4.  Time yourselves to see how long it takes.
  • What happens if someone doesn’t show up for the competition?  Does EVERYONE know how to attach the attachments?  Does EVERYONE know how to work the robot?  EVERYONE should!!
  • You will be going to Mrs. Emerson’s room at some point today to work on your presentation boards.

Oct. 22, 2015

  • We officially have ONE MONTH until our competition!  Two weeks until our scrimmage!
  • At the end of today, I will ask your team what you accomplished.  Make sure you have a good answer!  EVERYONE should be working!
  • Begin to plan which team members will run which programs.  EVERYONE should have a job during the robot competition.
  • Practice running your programs in order.

Oct. 20, 2015

  • We are spending our WHOLE time working on robots today!
  • Everyone in your group should be doing something productive!
  • USE YOUR TIME WISELY!!

Oct. 13, 2015

  • You should be completely done with your first two missions
  • Begin planning and programming for next two missions

  • PROGRAM, PROGRAM, PROGRAM!!!
  • If you have finished programming your first two missions, you can work on attachments.

Oct. 6, 2015

  • PROGRAM, PROGRAM, PROGRAM!!!
  • You should NOT be worried about attachments today, unless your programs are COMPLETE!
  • You will be going to work on your project with Mrs. Emerson at 3:15.

Sept. 29, 2015

  • Continue programming your robots to accomplish the first two missions.
  • Build attachments if necessary.
  • Be sure to name your programs after the mission (Composting, Demolition, etc.).

  • Check the Challenge Updates

Sept. 24, 2015

  • Program your Robots!!  One group should work on one mission and another group should work on the other mission.  Make sure your robot gets to the point where an attachment can be used.
  • Once you’ve accomplished the programming, work on attachments.

Sept. 22, 2015

  • Finish up deciding what TWO missions you will try to accomplish first.
  • Brainstorm strategies to accomplish those missions.  What attachments will you need?  What path will the robot follow?  Write these down in your packet!  Draw pictures if necessary.
  • Begin programming your robot!  2 or 3 students should work together on each task.  Ask Mr. Gipson for help if needed.
  • Build attachments
