Sheldon High School Academy / Pathway Programs
Agriculture Pathway (FFA) — The Agricultural Pathway is a unique program that provides high school students the opportunity to not only learn about agriculture in the classroom, but also through supervised agriculture experiences, and the FFA. As a student in the Agricultural pathway, learning doesn’t just come from books, but extends to the Elk Grove Agri-Science Center, a multitude of hands-on projects and leadership opportunities.
FFA is a national organization that is an integral part of agricultural education. FFA members are encouraged to develop leadership capabilities through participation in conferences, public speaking or judging contests, chapter activities and community service – the opportunities are endless. In fact, members have the opportunity to participate at the chapter or local level sectional, regional, state and even the national level. The rewards of leadership involvement include resume enhancement, scholarship opportunities and more!

ARTSwork Pathway — The mission of the ARTSwork Academy is to empower students to meet the standards of excellence that foster creative exploration of the visual and performing arts within the school and community:
- To prepare students to be creative, critical-thinking, productive citizens who articulate ideas in various forms of communication.
- To cultivate a lifelong appreciation of the role the arts play in a culturally diverse society.
- To provide students with project-based curriculum that focuses on a team approach found in many professional work environments.
The ARTSwork Academy provides a rigorous four-year plan designed to give students real world experience using problem-solving skills that are required to successfully pursue a career or post-secondary educational opportunities in a variety of arts, media and entertainment fields.

Biotechnology (Biotech) Academy — The Biotech Academy is for students interested in science-related occupations. Students learn advanced scientific concepts and cutting-edge lab skills that prepare them for both post-secondary education and employment. The academy provides a powerful school-to career educational experience – a blend of academic instruction and on-the-job experience with local industries.
Biotech prepares students for both post-secondary education and employment in the current and emerging high-growth science career labor market. The Biotechnology Academy meets the needs of all students by combining ongoing and direct contact with local and regional industries and post-secondary institutions with rigorous, integrated academic instruction and meaningful, on-the-job experiences.

Building Trades and Engineering Pathway — This pathway is designed for students interested in exploring the skilled trades associated with the building industry as well as engineering disciplines. Steadily growing industrial and high-tech manufacturing segments of the local economy combine with an exceptionally strong construction industry to provide context for this pathway. Students begin exploration through general introductory courses. Here they survey career opportunities, engineering fundamentals, basic construction tool use and material handling as well as technical communication skills. Higher level courses allow students to explore more specific areas of building construction and engineering.

Entrepreneurship and Innovation Pathway — Sheldon High School offers two pathways within their Business Department. This is a New and Emerging Sector. The Entrepreneurship Pathway/Marketing, Sales and Service sector provides an opportunity to learn the techniques of transferring products or services to consumers. As California businesses compete in the global marketplace, the need for employees with business expertise and the ability to analyze and respond to emerging trends will continue to grow.
Students in the Software and Systems Development pathway prepare for careers related to computer science that involve the design, development, implementation, maintenance and management of systems that rely on software programs to satisfy the operational needs of modern business organizations. Persons with expertise in systems development and programming are critical to support operations like electronic commerce, medical records management, retail sales and inventory management, digital entertainment and use of energy.
