Medical Careers Pathway
The Medical Careers Pathway is a 3-course pathway designed for students who intend to enter the healthcare career field. The pathway curriculum focuses on foundational knowledge and skills needed to be successful in any career involving patient care. The pathway has been aligned with industry developed core competencies and skills, as well as, three Los Rios Community College Courses required for health pathway programs. This pathway also includes guest speakers, job shadowing, internship opportunities and mentorships with industry partners and pre-med students from local colleges.
The mission of Cosumnes Oaks Medical Careers Pathway is to provide the skills and foundational knowledge for students to pursue post-secondary options for healthcare careers and educational programs. Patient care skills will be developed through hands-on activities, pre-med mentors and industry partnerships that provide a variety of real-world experiences.
Articulated post secondary credits are available.

Laguna Creek High School
The Sports Careers Academy offers a unique opportunity to explore a wide-ranging and growing field, including physical therapy, fitness training and athletic training. Students will have hands-on experience treating sports injuries and working with technology usually reserved for college students. Students also learn how to take care of their own health and wellness.
Students graduate from the academy with:
• Personal trainer certification
• CPR/First Aid certification
• Sports performance assessment training
• Knowledge about the care and prevention of athletic injuries
• Hands-on training with athletic trainers and physical therapists

Pleasant Grove High School
The Biomedical Academy challenges students to take on the same problems as biomedical science professionals, such as teaching healthy lifestyle choices, designing prosthesis and using DNA gel electrophoresis to solve a crime. Working with the same tools used by professionals in hospitals and labs, students engage in compelling, hands-on activities and work together to find solutions to problems. In this small learning community, students have opportunities for leadership and enhancing soft skills in an academically rigorous environment.

The Biotech Academy is for students interested in science-related occupations. Students learn advanced scientific concepts and cutting-edge lab skills that prepare them for both post-secondary education and employment. The academy provides a powerful school-to career educational experience – a blend of academic instruction and on-the-job experience with local industries.
Biotech prepares students for both post-secondary education and employment in the current and emerging high-growth science career labor market. The Biotechnology Academy meets the needs of all students by combining ongoing and direct contact with local and regional industries and post-secondary institutions with rigorous, integrated academic instruction and meaningful, on-the-job experiences.

Valley High School
EKG / Medical Assisting / Phlebotomy Programs
The standards for the Patient Care programs apply to occupations or functions involved in the prevention, treatment, and management of illness and the preservation of mental and physical well-being through the services offered by the medical and allied health professions. The standards specify the knowledge and skills needed by professional and technical personnel pursuing careers in these programs.

Health TECH Academy
Tomorrow’s Employees in Careers in Health (Health TECH) is an innovative public health program that combines a rigorous college preparatory curriculum with advanced technology, student workplace experience and direct contact with local health agencies. Together these elements create a school-to-work educational experience for all students interested in health-related occupations. The Health TECH program ensures that students receive a solid foundation in workplace literacy and participate in specialized performance-based curricula that will prepare them to compete successfully in tomorrow’s technological society.
All course content and integrated curricula have been designed to meet model curriculum standards and Elk Grove Unified School District graduation requirements, as well as university, college and community college entrance requirements. Health TECH is a district-certified academy.
