Pleasant Grove High School held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 to celebrate the opening of two classrooms for their Biomedical Academy. With the goal of increasing student achievement through small learning environments, career exploration and leadership opportunities, the new classrooms will provide Biomedical Academy students with team-based learning opportunities that encourage brainstorming and collaborating on different approaches to provide patient care. Students will also have access to simulation spaces such as manikins to enable students to manipulate clay to create organs and place them into correct anatomical position; vernier software to collect vital signs; and opportunities to practice patient interaction behaviors. The new learning space will challenge students to discover their direction in life working side-by-side with peers and mentors as they obtain real-world skills through a Career Technical Education academy.
