EGHS FFA Program | For two days, elementary school students from throughout the Elk Grove Unified School District had the chance to learn more about farming and agriculture at Elk Grove High School’s Future Farmers of America (FFA) program’s annual 3rd Grade Agriculture Field Day on September 25 and 26. This event was held at the Elk Grove High School Agri-Science Center.

The 3rd Grade Agriculture Field Day has been in existence for over 25 years and reinforces the 3rd grade curricular unit pertaining to California agriculture. During this two day event, over 1,200 third grade students, as well as their parents and teachers, from elementary schools from throughout the District will experience hands-on lessons, led by Elk Grove High School FFA students with expertise in their species area.

“For many of the elementary school students, this event gives them their first opportunity to see various parts of farm life up close and personal,” said Mike Albiani, FFA advisor for Elk Grove High School. “Students will also have the chance to view colorful displays on agricultural commodities, interact with live animals and visit a greenhouse.”
