Bugs in our Diets

Have you ever in your life eaten a bug? We read the TFK article named Bug Business, and afterward we ate bugs. I ate a cheese and bacon cricket and a Mexican spice larva. When I tasted the cricket first I only tasted a little bit of the cheese powder, but I didn’t taste the bacon at all. The cheese and bacon cricket didn’t taste like anything, it just tasted like a regular snack that’s crunchy but has no flavor. When I tasted the larva, I thought it tasted delicious. I had only tasted a tiny bit of the spices but that’s all. I think the larva tasted great, it was better than the cricket. In the the TFK article called Bug Business it talked about how people are putting bugs in their meals for their diet. Here are the reason why bugs should be in our diet.  One reason why bugs are healthy because Megan Miller, the co founder of Bitty Foods, states that “Insects are not only packed with protein, they also have vitamins, fiber, and minerals.” The other reason why we should eat bugs is that they surprisingly taste good as well. In the text it says that crickets taste like nuts. In other words, they don’t taste weird like we think they would. Lastly why bugs should be in our diets is that they are a lot easier to take care of. In the text it says “to produce one pound of meat, you need approximately 2,000 gallons of water but with crickets one pound, it requires just one gallon of water.” So that means that it is easier to take care of bugs than to take care of other animals and livestock. In conclusion, bugs are nutritious, they taste delicious and are easy to take care of.
