New Students- The fall registration form will post to this website on July 27, 2022. 

Register in three easy steps:  

1. Complete online registration form

2. Orientation and Placement test – An EGACE staff member will call you to schedule an orientation date.  During orientation you will complete a placement test.

3.  Start class!    

ESL classes are Free! 

English as a Second Language (ESL) classes are open to all persons 18 years of age and older.  Online and Hybrid classes are available!

Zoom Class Schedules

  • Monday – Thursday 9:00am – 10:30am

  • Tues, Wed, Thurs 7:00-8:30pm

Hybrid Schedule (Zoom & In-Person)

  • Mon./Wed. (Zoom) 11:00am – 12:30pm

  • Tues./Thurs. (In-Person at main campus) 11:00am – 12:30pm

  • Students must attend both Zoom and In-person classes.

Academic ESL Classes

Academic Classes are designed to build academic reading and writing skills to reinforce ESL and transfer to career training or college.

Citizenship Classes Available Call for more information.

Grammar & Writing I

  • This ESL basic grammar course will provide an introduction into the foundations of English grammar with topics covering parts of speech, sentence structure, simple and progressive verb tenses, and writing basics.

Zoom Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1:30 – 3:00 pm

Grammar and Writing II

  • This course focuses on skills or competencies that students need to succeed in an academic program and is designed to build grammar and composition skills necessary for academic writing. Academic vocabulary is incorporated into the course. Additionally, students will utilize classroom technology (computers, laptops) and access online resources created to enhance grammar and composition skills.

Zoom Schedule: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, 1:30 – 3:00 pm

Burlington English Distance Learning (BEDL)

  • Burlington English is a Web based English speech recognition program. Students will improve their pronunciation, increase their vocabulary, learn grammar, and practice their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Students can learn and practice English wherever they can log onto a computer. Students communicate with the teacher by email.

Tutoring and student assistance available by appointment.

Reading Lab

  • This online independent-study course focuses on reading skills and competencies students need to succeed in ESL. The class provides students opportunities to develop and refine their decoding and reading comprehension skills using Reading Horizons curriculum. Students will also develop digital literacy skills, content related vocabulary, reading strategies, and critical thinking skills. Tutoring hours are available.

Optional Zoom Tutoring Hours: Fridays 10am – 12pm

Computer Skills for ESL

  • These classes focus on computer skills needed to succeed in distance learning/remote instruction. Content will include using Zoom for learning, accessing instructional materials and uploading materials to Google Classroom, some keyboarding, and email basics.
