1. Jasmin C.

How you get Perimeter: First, you add 4ft + 4ft, you add 5ft + 5ft, then add 8+10 and it equals 18ft.
How you get Area: Second, you multiply 3ft x 5ft, it equals 15, then you multiply 4ft, and it becomes 60ft2.
What’s the difference?
The difference is that for Perimeter, you have to ADD the feet. For the Area, you have to MULTIPLY the two feet. And at last, for the Volume, you MULTIPLY ALL the feet.

• Brandon

Good job, explaining the perimeter, area, and volume.

• michaelm

thanks for making me understand it more!!

• Daniel

nice job explaning everything:)

• Jasmin C.

Thanks Daniel, Michael, and Brandon for commenting on my work.

• Daniel

Thanks for making it easier to understand.

3. Ashley S.

How do you get primeter? You add 4+4+5+5 and you get 18ft.

How do you get area? Multiply 20 times 5 and your answer is 20ft. square.

How do you get volume? Multiply 4ft. times 5ft. times 3ft. and the answer is 60ft. to the power of 3.

What’s the difference? The difference between these three is for primeter you add, for area you multiply 2 of the numbers and for volume you multiply all of the numbers.

• eettalfonso

Multiply 20 times 5? You’d get 100 Ashley…
Hmmmm, go back and and reexplain how you got the AREA again. You’re correct. The answer is 20 square feet, but how you got there needs a little fixing.

• Brandon

You spelled perimeter wrong, but the rest is pretty good. 😀

• eettalfonso

I’ll make sure to remind them as well. Thanks Brandon.

• michaelm

you said how to get the perminiter right

4. Nicole Y.

For perimeter add all four measurements.

To get area you first multiply the length times the width. Then you tag on the unit of measurement and the 2 for squared onto the product.

In order to get the volume you have to first multiply the length times the width. Then you have to multiply the height by the product of step 1. Finally you tag on the unit of measurement and the 3 for cubed onto the final product.

The difference is in the operations and what you use to find your final answer.

• Daniel

very nice job describing the measurements

5. Chelsea

I got perimeter by adding all the sides. Add 4ft + 4ft +5ft + 5ft. To get area you must multiplty base times height. 5ft times 4ft the anwser is the area. You get volume by timing base times height times length. 3ft times 4ft times 5ft gives you the volume. They are different because it takes different steps to get to the answer.

• eettalfonso

Base times height? Let’s save that for finding the AREA of parallelograms.

6. Justin

First,I added 4 ft and 5 ft twice.Second, I added the sums and i got 18
ft.INCOMLETE

7. Nicole Y.

To get area you first multiply the length times the width. Then you tag on the unit of measurement and the 2 for squared onto the product. (answer: 20ft.2)

In order to get the volume you have to first multiply the length times the width. Then you have to multiply the height by the product of step 1. Finally you tag on the unit of measurement and the 3 for cubed onto the final product. (60ft.3)

The difference is in the operations and what you use to find your final answer.

• eettalfonso

Could you be more specific about the differences and what you use? Thanks!

8. Cathy

Perimeter:
I got the answer 18 feet because first I added the two lengths. Then I added the two widths. Finally I added the two numbers making it add up to 18 feet.
Area:
I got the answer 20 feet for area because first I multiplied the length times the width adding it up to be 20 feet.
Volume:
For volume I got 60 feet because first I multiplied the length and the width. Then I multiplied the length times width answer with the height.
Differnces:
The difference for those three is that in perimeter you add the lengths and widths. In area you have to multiply the length and width. In volume you have to multiply the length times the width, then multiplying it by the height.

• Daniel

this is really good I like it

9. Josh

Area
*I got Area by multiplying 5ft x 4ft and I got 20ft2.

Perimeter
*I got Perimeter by adding 5ft + 5ft + 4ft + 4ft and I got 18ft.

Volume
* I got volume by multiplying the Length x Width x Hight so I got 60ft3.

10. Ashley S.

How do you get primeter? You add 4+4+5+5 and you get 18ft.

How do you get area? Multiply 20 times 5 and your answer is 20ft. square.

How do you get volume? First, you multiply 4ft times 5ft. and your answer is 20ft. Second, you multiply 20ft. times 3ft. and that leaves you with 60ft. to the power of 3

What’s the difference? The difference between these three is for primeter you add, for area you multiply 2 of the numbers and for volume you multiply all of the numbers.

• Daniel

excellent describing the area, perimiter, volume, and the differance

11. Ashley V.

First for perimeter you have to add the length and the height. Like 5ft+5ft+4ft+4ft=18ft.
Second for area you have to multiply 5&4 and you get 20ft2.
Third for volume you have to all three numbers together.
They’re all different because of all the ways that you multiply and add the numbers.

12. Breanna

The perimiter: First you had to add 4ft+4ft and 5ft+5ft then 10+8 and get 18ft.
The area: Second you have to multiply 4ft to 5ft and get 20ft
The volume: Finally you multiply 4ft to 5ft to 3ft and get 60ft.

The diferentes are that all of them have different steps to take to get the answer.

• Daniel

some teachers could use this in there classroom

13. Elexis

For area I got 20FT3. First, multiply 5FT x 4FT. Second, incomplete!

14. Ashaun

Today in math Mr.Alfonso had us solve 3 problems involving perimeter, the answer to the perimetr was 18ft how i got this is i added INCOMPLETE

15. Timothy

You guys did a very good explaining on how to get an area.
Godd Job!

16. evelyn

People could use this for their class.

17. Elizabeth

grate job explaaning.

18. Simon

Great on explaining on how to get the perimiter. Nice details too. It tells a lot on what you need to add.

19. Daniel

thanks for helping me get it more

20. Simon

Great on describing. You did a lot of good details onhow to get the area and the perimiter.

21. Elexis

Area:
For area I got 20 feet square. I got that by; first, multiplying 5ft x 4ft. Second, I added the unitof measurement to my answer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Perimeter:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Volume:
For volume I got 60ft3. First multiply the length x width x hight. Second you add the unit of measurement to my answer.

22. Chelsea

23. Andrew C.

I got perimeter by adding 5ft, 5ft, 4ft, and 4ft to get 18ft.
I got area by timesing two of the sides 5ft and 4ft are the ONLY two you CAN times and put sqaured to get 20ft2.
I got volume by timesing 4ft, 5ft, and 3ft and put cubed 75ft3.
The diffrence is on perimeter you add, area you times 5ft and 4ft, and on volume you times all 3 together.

24. Andrew G

PRIMETER you would have to add all 4 side ,then toget AREA you need to multiply the 2 numbers. With VOLUME you multiply the 3 numbers. The diffrence isthatwithprimeteryouadd, areayoumultiplybothnumbers, volume
INCOMPLETE

25. Aijanae

To get 18ft in perimeter is by adding 5+5 and 4+4 and it equaled 18.
To get 20ft2 in area is by multiplying 4and 5 and it equaled 20.
To get 60ft3 in volume is by multiplying 5, 4, and 3 together and it equaled 60ft3.

26. Andrew G

PRIMETER you would have to add all 4 side ,then toget AREA you need to multiply the 2 numbers. With VOLUME you multiply the 3 numbers. The diffrence is that with primeter you add, area you muliply
both numbers with volume you multiply the 3 numbers.
