Pop Art

Pop Art was an art movement that originated in Britain in the mid-1950s, and came to America in the late-1950s. It uses aspects of pop culture, such as advertising, comic books, etc. One of its goals is to use pop culture in art, emphasizing the lowbrow elements of any culture, most often through irony. Some artists that shaped the pop art movement in Britain were Eduardo Paolozzi and Richard Hamilton, while Robert Rauschenberg and Jasper Johns helped shape it in the United States.
