Go Math!
We are midway through Chapter 6. Your child is now able to add three digit numbers with/without regrouping.
By the end of the chapter, your child will record 3-digit subtraction with possible regrouping of both hundreds and tens. The remainder of this chapter has some of the most difficult lessons in second grade.
I will continue to assess your child’s understanding and provide your child with any additional support if needed.
I am asking you to support your child at home by helping him/her fix any mistakes with classwork and check homework nightly.
Thank you for your support!

Language Arts
This week we will ask, “Why is reading and writing important?” First we’ll read My Name Is Gabriela, a biography of Gabriela
Mistral. Gabriela, a girl who loved to read, became the first Latin American woman to win a Nobel Prize. We’ll also read a few poems from the collection of poetry in
Poems About Reading and Writing.
Activities to Do Together
Vocabulary
Take turns using the Target Vocabulary words in sentences that tell about school. Then challenge your child to incorporate the words into sentences about helping others learn.
Past, Present, Future
Talk with your child about things you liked to do when you were a child and what you thought you would do when you grew up. Invite your child to compare what he or she enjoys doing now with your childhood memories.
