Kindergarten Curriculum

Language Arts:
Our students will be using the Reading Wonders language arts program. This program will help students learn the letters and sounds of the alphabet as well beginning to read and write sight words (words that are memorized) and decodable words (words that can be sounded out).

Kindergarten students will be using “Traditional Manuscript” handwriting. By the end of the school year, students should be able to correctly write upper and lowercase letters, simple words, simple sentences and their name on lined paper.

Math:
Our daily instruction will consist of lessons from the district’s adopted math program, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, GO MATH! Supplemental activities will also be included. Students will learn the numbers 0-20 and how to add and subtract.

History/Social Science:
Kindergarten students will be using the Harcourt History/Social Science curriculum which is aligned with the California State Standards.

Science:
Students will be using a science program from Macmillan/McGraw-Hill.

Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA):
