Sierra Santiago looks forward to a summer of working on the mural she is painting in her Brooklyn neighborhood. While working on her dragon mural, she notices other murals in the neighborhood are changing.  Her abuelo, Lazaro, is acting even more strangely after suffering a stroke.  He keeps mumbling to Sierra that he is sorry.  Then Lazaro speaks clearly to warn her she must finish her mural. “They are coming for us!” he warns.  Sierra meets Robbie, another young artist in the community, at a party. She confides in him about the changes she is noticing in the neighborhood, Robbie starts to explain the ancestral ways of their culture, but they are interrupted by a creepy being that they just barely escape.  Sierra discovers the secrets of her ancestors, and she must use them to protect her family and her neighborhood.

Suze’s best friend from Brooklyn, Gina visits during spring break.  Suze’s step-brothers, Brad and Jake are attracted to Gina and Gina is attracted to them.  Suze finds this very confusing. Then the RLS Angels (four teenage ghosts from a nearby high school killed in a car accident) start harassing a student from Junipero Serra Mission Academy.  Suze has her hands full with this mediation.

Catrina’s family is moving from sunny Southern California to Bahia de la Luna because it will be a better place for her little sister Maya to live.  Maya has Cystic Fibrosis, an incurable disease that affects the lungs and digestive system. Maya is obsessed with ghosts, and on their first day in Bahia de la Luna, the girls run into Carlos, who gives local ghost tours.  He tells the girls all about the ghosts in the community and later about the big Dia de Los Muertos celebration in November. Cat wants nothing to do with the ghosts or Carlos.  Cat gets a little freaked out when it comes to ghosts and anything scary.  It’s hard enough to move away from your best friends and get used to a new house, new town, and new school.  It’s hard enough to make new friends, but it is too much for Cat to have to deal with a town full of spirits and a little sister who seeks them out.

Doll Bones_Alice, Poppy, and Zach have been friends since elementary school.  They get together every day after school to play a great game of imagination with characters they have developed over the years with each of the friends playing an imaginary character. One of the characters, an antique doll Poppy’s mother keeps locked in a glass cabinet, they call the Great Queen has always had an air of mystery surrounding it.  When Zach’s father returns to the family, he wants Zach to get more into sports, so he pressures Zach to give up the time he spends with his best friends to pursue basketball. Just as Zach’s dad takes a desperate action to end the game leaving Zach feeling he has no choice but to abandon his friends, Poppy approaches Zach with a story of a haunted china doll. Poppy needs Zach and Alice to accompany her on a quest to return the Great Queen to her final resting spot.  Has Poppy made a gruesome discovery or is this just another part of the game?
