Have you ever wondered how bugs taste? This week we read an article, Bug Business, and I got the opportunity to try chile-lime crickets and a chocolate-covered superworm. While reading this article, I learned that we should incorporate insects in our diet because they are nutritious, they require less resources, and they are tasty. To begin with, bugs are nutritious. In fact, according to Megan Miller, co-founder of Bitty foods, “Insects have lots of protein, vitamins, fiber, and minerals.” In addition, bugs require less resources. For example, according to Jarod Goldin, the co-founder of Entomo Farm, to produce a pound of meat you need 2,000 gallons of water, but for a pound of bugs you would only need 1 gallon of water.” Finally, insects are very tasty. To explain, according to the co-founder of Bitty foods “a lot of insects taste like nuts.” All in all, bugs should replace some of the meat in our diet.
