_____ Shawn Hammond-Elegue ~ My name is Shawn Hammond-Elegue and I have a daughter who is currently in 3rd grade here at Sunrise Elementary.  My family and I are newcomers to this school only arriving in October of 2017.  My husband and I worried the transition might be too much for our daughter who had been at her previous school since preschool.  However, the staff, administration, and parents at Sunrise Elementary soon put our fears to rest as the reception of our child and family was immediate and genuine here at Sunrise.  It is this warmth coupled with high expectations for student achievement and progress that have convinced me I would like to be a part of this process here at Sunrise.  I would like to be a part of ensuring the needs of our students continue to be meet and our standards of excellence continue to be upheld.  I believe I am capable of making sound decisions that support proper allocation of funds because I too am an educator and I understand the wide-ranging needs of students and teachers.  Additionally, I currently serve on the school site council at SMS here in Elk Grove Unified School District and am happy to report I will serve another two year term at my site.  If I am chosen to represent our children’s school, I will put the experience I have as an educator and council member to good use:  always putting the needs of students and teachers first.  Thank you for your consideration.

_____ Neaman Miller ~ My name is Neaman Miller and I am applying to serve on the Sunrise Elementary Site Council.  I would love to serve on the Sunrise Elementary School Site Council; I believe I possess a wide range of educational and professional experience that can be beneficial to the students and faculty.  I understand what it is to manage a team of employees and manage a team of volunteers; both take a special acumen in keeping morale positive while staying within the means of a budget.  I possess over 15 years of experience in creating, administering, and controlling finances and budgets; while possessing Master’s degrees in Finance and Accounting, and Bachelor’s degree in Business Management.  Most importantly I would serve as a contributor to the Sunrise Elementary School site council for the benefit of the students.  I have already talked to Principal Hock about volunteering my services as an experienced Basketball Coach for the Girls basketball team next school year and I volunteered this year as a referee for the girls’ basketball games.  I have four children that go to Sunrise Elementary between the grades Kindergarten to Sixth; which means I will be at Sunrise Elementary involved and volunteering my services for the next eight years.  I would love to be the catalyst on the team of individuals to make Sunrise Elementary School the best school possible.

_____ Mike Pedley ~ My wife and I have been part of the community for 6 years now and have grown very fond of it and the people.  I work for a locally owned and operated company here in Rancho Cordova.  I am involved in local youth sports, coaching my kid’s soccer and Baseball teams for the past 5 years and I am currently on the board of Rancho Cordova Soccer Club.  I feel very invested in the community and want the best for the kids and the school.  I have two kids that attend Sunrise Elementary (Marissa 4th Grade & Isaac 1st Grade) so we have many more years at the school.  We really love the school, teachers, administration, and staff.

_____ Anissa Sonnenburg (Wilson) ~ I am the proud mother of two Sunrise Spartans, and it would be an honor to represent our family and other Sunrise families on School Site Council.  My husband Norm and I moved to Anatolia the summer before Sunrise Elementary opened (before our sons were even born), and since our oldest started receiving speech services at age three, have felt part of the school community.  Professionally, I am a teacher with 12 years of classroom experience, and currently work as an educator at the state-level (6+ years) assisting with programming for over 800,000 K-12 students in before and after school programs.  My work life also includes serving on various statewide workgroups including committees for social-emotional learning and the Local Control Accountability Plans.  For nearly two decades, I have had the pleasure of working closely with many students, families, teachers, and school administrators, and I believe that my voice and experience can help support the goals and objectives of Sunrise Elementary’ s School Site Council.
