Stone Lake PTO April 2013 newsletter

The 2013 Trigg Invitational Track & Field meet will take place May 4^th. Students in grades 4, 5, and 6 are invited to sign up for the Stone Lake Track Team and participate in this event. Letters of interest were sent home, but seeing you are off track, they are available for you to pick up in the office. Please have them filled out and brought in at your earliest convenience. Should you have any questions, Mrs. Tavernia’s email address is located on the bottom of the letter of interest.

If you live within the boundaries of the Elk Grove Unified School District and your child will turn 5 years old on or before October 1, 2013, you may register them for the 2013-2014 kindergarten school year at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 8, 2013.

If your child will turn 5 years old between October 2 and December 2, he/she is eligible for a Transitional Kindergarten class. To learn more about Transitional Kindergarten, please call the PreK-6 Education office at (916) 686-7704.

To Register

1.  Pick up a registration packet from your home school. The packet will be time-stamped and dated by the school office staff. Return your completed registration packets by the first Monday in February.

2.  Return the completed kindergarten registration packet back to your child’s home school including:

o Completed registration packet

o Child’s immunization record

o Birth certificate

o Proof of residence in the form of a SMUD or PG&E utility bill, rental agreement, or purchase papers for a home

Although most families who turn in their registration materials by the first Monday in February are likely to get into their home school, EGUSD is not able to guarantee placement for every child at their home school. Due to crowded conditions in the Elk Grove Unified School District, there is a possibility that your child may be reassigned to another Elk Grove Unified elementary school.

Native American Indian Education Program

• Friday (11/16) is the last day to collect can food.  The class who collected the most will win a pizza party from KCRA.  If the school collects 8000 or more cans as a whole, everyone will win.  The class who collects the most cans gets to choose the school prize.  There is still time to turn in your cans.

• Yearbooks are on sale for $24.  You can purchase your yearbook online.  Forms will be going out.  For B Track, the form will be available online or you can simply write your child’s name and teacher’s name on your check (to Stone Lake PTO) and submit it.   It is always helpful to include an email address and/or phone number as well.  The 6th grade dedication page form will be handed out to 6^th graders only. 

• Innisbrook delivery is scheduled for this week.  Due to Hurricane Sandy, our shipment has been delayed . . . I do apologize.  For any B track parents who would like to pick up their item(s), please email me at president@stonelakepto.org.  I will make arrangements to get you your items.

• The tile fundraiser form is posted on our website.  The deadline to order is December 21.  You don’t want to miss your child’s opportunity to leave his/her imprint at the school.

• Spirit wear is available to purchase.  Extra sizes were ordered, so email spiritwear@stonelakepto.org if interested.  It’s a great stocking stuffer . . . and is considered part of the school uniform.  Order forms are on our website.

• Remember to link your Raley’s/Bel Air Something Extra card to Stone Lake Elementary.  After January 1, your Quality of Life card will NO LONGER work.  Directions to link your card to Stone Lake are on our web page.

 It is NOT too late to purchase tickets for the Spaghetti Dinner on Thursday, 10/25 from 5:30 PM- 7:30 PM.  PTO will still honor the $6 per person price up until Thursday morning.  If you are too busy to stay and eat . . . get your meal To Go.  Noodles & Company will be there preparing the spaghetti.  No tickets will be distributed, check-in will be at the door.  I hope you will be able to join us.  The flyer is attached.     

The Scholastic Book Fair is being held in the kindergarten room across from the MP room.  Please stop by and check it out.  Jennifer Ferraiuolo, Christy Lee, and their team of wonderful volunteers have done an awesome job of displaying Scholastic’s hottest book titles.  There are books available for all ages.  Help your teacher complete his/her Wish List by purchasing one of his/hers selected books.  It’s also a fantastic time to jump start your holiday shopping.  The Book Fair will be open until Friday.
