Digital Citizenship Week – Oct. 17 – 23

EGUSD recognizes Digital Citizenship Week (Oct. 17 – 23, 2021). Digital Citizenship Week is the perfect opportunity for schools and families to reflect on how they can work together and prepare our students to think critically, be kind and respectful to others online, and to use their technology/devices and social media in positive, creative and powerful ways. Digital Citizenship instruction strives to help students gain the tools to be safe, productive, kind, responsible, and respectful members of online communities.

Visit the EGUSD Digital Citizenship Website to learn more.

Filipino American History Month

Elk Grove Unified School District proudly recognizes Filipino American History Month (Oct. 1 – 31, 2021). Our EGUSD family celebrates the social, intellectual, and economic contributions of Filipinos and Filipino Americans in the United States. The Filipino American community is the third largest Asian American group in the United States, with an estimated population of 4,200,000 people, and second largest Asian American group in California. The earliest documented evidence of Filipinos in the continental United States occurred on October 18, 1587, when mariners under Spanish command, referred to as “Luzones Indios,” landed in Morro Bay, California.

National Hispanic Heritage Month

Elk Grove Unified School District proudly recognizes Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15 – Oct. 15, 2021). Our EGUSD family celebrates the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. Similar to other states, in California alone, Latinos make up the largest ethnic group, so there are plenty of reasons and ways to celebrate.
