The Architectural Design and Engineering Academy (ADE) provides students with the opportunity to link the learning from the core academic subjects (Math, English, and Science) with high quality career technical education classes. The pathway is designed for those students interested in the areas of architecture, construction, and engineering. The program is based on a “Design and Build” philosophy used within the industry today.

Coursework is aligned with curriculum standards at both Cosumnes River College and California State University, Sacramento. Students can receive transferable college credit for many of these core courses.  Core courses include:

  • Building Trades I – Beginning
  • Building Trades II – Advanced
  • Engineering Design A and B
  • Design and Implementation

As students progress through the various courses, the level of rigor and complexity of the student projects increases. Students are given the opportunity to construct the projects which they have designed and engineered.  The rHOUSE provides our students with a working model of construction techniques and sustainable technologies, which they can incorporate into their personal projects.

While one group of advanced engineering students might be working on a fully functional micro-house outfitted with solar technology, another group is converting a gas powered automobile to electric, and another group is building “solar suitcases” to donate to a village in a developing country.

ADE brings learning to life for our students and it gives them a competitive edge regardless which post-secondary path they elect to pursue.
