Download the REVISED Safety Plan for Elk Grove Unified School District

Message from the Superintendent

Dear Students, Families and Staff,

Provided for you in this document is the Elk Grove Unified School District’s “Safe Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services Plan.” This plan is a revision from our EGUSD COVID-19 Safety Plan and outlines our District’s implementation, to the greatest extent practicable, updated prevention and mitigation policies in line with the most up-to-date guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”) and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) K-12 Guidance for 2021-2022 in collaboration with our local Sacramento County Public Health (SCPH) Officers for the reopening and operation of school facilities to effectively maintain the health and safety of students, educators, and other staff.

Knowing that COVID-19 continues to circulate in our local community, including its variants, and in recognition that in-person learning is essential for the well-being of our students, the mitigation strategies our District will be implementing will enable us to provide high quality in-person educational services and supports for every child in our District.

In line with our Wellness Policy of Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds and Healthy Learning, we will continue to promote COVID-19 vaccination clinics, follow state public health requirements, solicit community feedback and comment on our safety plans and subsequent revisions, and provide continuity of services for the academic, social, behavioral, and emotional support our students need including transportation and food and nutrition services.

Christopher R. Hoffman Superintendent

New Schedule Option for In-Person/Concurrent Model

For those families who have had the opportunity to exercise the in-person concurrent model, we hope the experience has been as rewarding for your students as it has been for the staff.  It has been a pleasure to see students interacting with others for the first time in person.

This letter is to inform you of the opportunity for students to attend school four days per week.  Please note that social distancing requirements are still in place.  Despite the fact that the new guidance allows for three feet of social distancing between students inside the classroom, all adults must still maintain six feet of social distancing.  We expect to be able to accommodate most students who wish to attend school four days per week, but there may be some classroom situations where this will be a challenge.  We will work with staff to take measures to accommodate as many students as possible in these situations.

Please note:  If you would like to remain in your current option, you do not have to take any action at this time.

If you would like to make a change, please log in to ParentVue using the following link: psv.egusd.net

You will find three options:

  • Distance Learning only
  • In-person 2 days per week
  • In-person 4 days per week

Please make your selection by 5:00 pm on the last day of the portal being open, March 31st or April 7th, depending on track:

  • A track portal will open April 5, 6, 7.
The additional 4-day instructional model will begin April 13th.
  • B track portal will open March 29, 30, 31.
The additional 4-day instructional model will begin May 4th.
  • C track portal will open March 29, 30, 31.
The additional 4-day instructional model will begin April. 6th.
  • D track portal will open March 29, 30, 31.
The additional 4-day instructional model will begin April 6th.

If there are any challenges in terms of accommodating your student for the four day per week option, I will contact you directly prior to the start of the 4-day instruction option.

Thank you,
Patrina Baggett, Principal

ASES Day Camps are coming to David Reese Elementary!

Our school’s After School Education & Safety (ASES) grant has been given permission to open a Day Camp at David Reese Elementary. New legislation allows Elk Grove Unified School District to open ASES Day Camps while the district is in a distance learning model. These Day Camps will provide in-person care for students from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for a small group of students on school days. Space will be limited and enrollment will be prioritized based on the following criteria: First priority enrollment will be given to foster students or youth experiencing homelessness. The second priority will be given to students who are experiencing challenges connecting through distance learning. Additional spaces will be made available to the children of essential workers. Please let your school know if your family or your child are experiencing challenges during this time. A waitlist will be maintained and students will be added as spaces become available.

Important information about ASES Day Camps:

• EGUSD has worked closely with Sacramento County Public Health Department to determine health and safety protocols to ensure the health of all students and staff. Please see the at-home health screening checklist here.
• Students and staff will wear masks at all times except during meal time. See mask information here.
• Transportation will be available for some sites. Additional information regarding transportation will be provided upon enrollment.
• Meals will be provided. Breakfast, lunch, and a snack will be provided at school and students will have a grab-and-go supper to take with them at the end of the day. See information about free and reduced priced meals here.
• Students will bring their Chromebooks to campus and participate in distance learning during Day Camp.
• Students will have the opportunity to play outside and do enrichment activities while following health and safety guidelines. See example video here.
