Donation Recognizes Commitment to Students and Families During Critical Time
ELK GROVE, Calif. – May 6, 2020 – The Elk Grove Unified School District received a $35,000 grant to support its commitment to provide meals to students during the extended school closures. The donation is from Albertsons Supermarkets and is part of the Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry Campaign that will help EGUSD support critical efforts to provide nutritious meals to students and families in response to campus closures resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
EGUSD’s Director of Food and Nutrition Services, Michelle Drake, said, “The need to feed students healthy and balanced meals is crucial now more than ever. No Kid Hungry has been a valued partner to us as we provided summer meals for our students during previous summer breaks. This recent $35,000 grant during these uncertain times supports our efforts to continue to provide meals to our students while our schools are closed and are grateful for the continued support from our partners.”
