Effective March 10, 2020, Families in Need Encouraged to Visit Select School Sites to Receive Meals Based on the Number of Children Present in the Vehicle

ELK GROVE, Calif. – March 13, 2020 – The Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD) Food & Nutrition Services (FNS) program is extending and expanding the opportunity for families to drive through and pick up meals for the children in their family at select school sites. Meals will be available for any child, 18 years and younger, regardless of free or reduced eligibility or school of attendance. Children must be present in order for meals to be provided. This expanded program will begin on March 16, 2020 and will continue through the week, excluding Saturdays and Sundays. Should schools re-open, the drive through meal service will transition to a regular school meal program. 

Meals will be served between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The meals provided each day will include lunch for that day and breakfast for the following day. The drive through meal service will be present in the parking lot or bus lane at each school site listed below. Please stay in your car and meals will be handed to the passenger or driver of the vehicle.

This program will be solely for the pick up of meals and meals will not be consumed on site.   We encourage families to continue to be proactive in reducing the risk of COVID-19 by not congregating at the school site once meals have been distributed, continue to wash their hands often, sneeze or cough into a tissue and stay home if they are sick.
