Veterans Day Celebration Honors Veterans and Current Military Members
WHAT: Samuel Kennedy Elementary will honor military veterans with a celebration on Friday, November 8, 2019 to say, “Thank you for your service.” Military veterans from across the Greater Sacramento region will convene on campus prior to the presenting of the colors. The school choir will sing “God Bless the USA,” “Heroes Song” “We Honor You,” “This is Still the Land of the Free” and “Thank You, Soldiers.” A team of fourth grade students will also play the ukulele during the celebration. In coordination with the presenting of the colors, young students will also do the cadence. Honoring our country’s military veterans teaches children about important values and offers a hands-on history lesson for student attendees and participants.
WHEN: Friday, November 8, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. PT
WHERE: Samuel Kennedy Elementary, 7037 Briggs Drive, Sacramento, CA 95828 (please check-in at the front office).
WHO: Members of the Tuskegee Airman, Buffalo Soldiers will attend the event. Veterans from all branches of the U.S. Military are encouraged to attend. Local politicians and dignitaries will also be present. All Samuel Kennedy Elementary School students and staff are invited to participate in the school’s Veterans Day celebration.
WHY: Many Samuel Kennedy Elementary faculty and student body members have some connection to the military. This Veterans Day celebration at Samuel Kennedy Elementary aims to instill how important veterans are and how their service and contributions continue to support and maintain the foundational freedoms of the United States of America.
