Ten Schools Submitted Nearly 100 Video Projects in Competitive Regional Competition

ELK GROVE, Calif. – May 9, 2019 – The Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD) applauds four of its schools that received a total of 11 awards at the 2019 Student Educational Video Awards (SEVA) – the most awards received by a single school district within the Sacramento region. Additionally, 23 videos from EGUSD schools also scored near the top of their respective categories with each receiving an Award of Merit. Organized by the Sacramento Educational Cable Consortium (SECC), the annual awards ceremony was held on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at Sacramento State University’s University Union Ballroom to celebrate the talents and visions of student video producers.

 

Upon hearing about the success of the EGUSD students School Superintendent Christopher R. Hoffman said, “It always amazes me to see the powerful videos created by students from Elk Grove Unified, and I am proud of each of our winners and video students for showcasing their stories. I look forward to seeing what great creative work they’ll produce in the years ahead.”

 

Students from Florence Markofer, Herman Leimbach and Sunrise elementary schools also conducted red carpet interviews as guests arrived at the awards show. In a competitive field, of the nearly 500 submissions to this year’s SEVA Awards from 10 Sacramento County school districts, 10 EGUSD schools submitted nearly 100 video projects. Eight schools received Honorable Mentions with six receiving SEVA Awards.
