Hundreds of Talented Students From Elk Grove Unified Schools Across the Sacramento Region Take Center Stage at “Concert at the Capitol” to Advocate for Music Arts
WHAT: Hundreds of Elk Grove Unified student musicians in band and choir will perform and “Stand Up 4 Music” to advocate for art and music programs in schools across the Golden State on Thursday, May 9, 2019 on the north steps of the California State Capitol Building. In coordination with the California Music Educators Association, EGUSD students will join other schools to drum-up awareness among state decision-makers about the importance of music education and will identify legislative opportunities for music programs.

WHO: Teachers and students from Cosumnes Oaks High School, Elk Grove High School and T.R. Smedberg Middle School, students from other school band and choir programs and state lawmakers.

WHY: In collaboration with the California Music Educators Association, Elk Grove Unified band and choir students are taking the initiative to spread awareness of the benefits of having music and art programs in California schools.
