Students With Five Months of Perfect Attendance are in the Running to Win $20,000 Towards the Purchase of New Car in 12th Annual Senior Attendance Drive

WHAT: The Elk Grove Unified School District is co-hosting the 12th Annual Elk Grove Auto Mall Graduating Seniors Attendance Drive car giveaway at the 61st Annual Western Festival on Saturday, May 5 at 2:00 p.m. Each year, the Elk Grove Auto Mall donates $20,000 to a high school senior that has at least five months of perfect attendance. The finalist is chosen through a computer generated random selection process. One qualified student will be selected from high school. Each finalist is then screened for eligibility. The nine student finalists will attempt to start a brand-new car during the ceremony at the Western Festival. Only one car will start! The starting car determines the winning student who will receive $20,000 to go toward a new car.

WHEN: Saturday, May 5, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

WHERE: Elk Grove Western Festival, Elk Grove Regional Park, 9950 Elk Grove-Florin Road, Elk Grove, CA 95624.

WHO: Nine randomly selected EGUSD high school grade 12 students that have at least five months of perfect attendance during September 1, 2017 through April 27, 2018 and at least a 2.0 Grade Point Average (G.P.A.).

WHY: Since 2004, Elk Grove Unified has partnered with local businesses to provide students with incentives each school year from September through April to maintain and improve the District’s school attendance rate and decrease truancies by motivating students to be at school every day. According to the District’s Attendance Improvement office, high school students attended class 96.22% during the 2016-2017 school year. Incentives like the Elk Grove Auto Mall Graduating Seniors Attendance Drive car giveaway provides students with motivation to attend classes each day of the school year to be in the drawing to win a new car but, more importantly, be in the classroom and continue to excel in their education.
