WHAT: Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD) students will participate in two panel discussions that focus on being Black in the American school system. The discussion offers students an opportunity to use their voice to share their journey in school as an African American student. Each panel discussion will be facilitated by Dr. Tony Limoges, EGUSD Director of Secondary Education.

WHEN: Saturday, September 9, 2017 | 1st Panel 10:15 a.m. – 11:25 a.m. | 2nd Panel 11:35 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. (Press members can check at the Power of One registration table.)

WHERE: EGUSD Power of One Conference at the Sheraton Grand Hotel, 1230 J Street, Sacramento, CA 95814 (Bondi Room)

WHO: Dr. Pedro Noguera, Tara Brown, Robert Jackson, John Krownapple, Dr. Sharroky Hollie, Kristin Anderson, African American Student Panelists, EGUSD staff, teachers and leadership.

WHY: The 2nd Annual Power of One Conference aims to ensure equity through professional learning. School staff and educators from Elk Grove Unified’s 27 Title I schools will convene in Downtown Sacramento to improve their work in education. The conference, organized by the EGUSD Department of Learning Support Services, encourages all employees in education to be the one to make a difference.
