WHAT: Paper? Check. Pencils? Check. Back-pack, Check. These common items may be difficult for some students to obtain and they are essential in creating a sense of belonging in the school environment.
With deep gratitude, School Superintendent Christopher R. Hoffman shared, “Thanks to the generous donation of back to school supplies by the California Franchise Tax Board leadership and employees. Hundreds of students have access to the supplies they need. However, collaborations between the District and community sponsors support our commitment to connect and engage each student every day.”
On Tuesday, August 15 at 7:30 a.m., many California State employees with the Franchise Tax Board will volunteer and present their donations of school supplies such as paper, crayon/markers, pencils, binders, tape erasers and back-packs gathered from their Back-to-School Supply Drive to EGUSD’s Student Support Centers and Foster Youth Services who will disperse the donated supplies to the students most in need across the District’s 67 campuses.
Earlier this year, tax board employees collected 2,104 new and gently loved stuffed animals during its Bear Hugs drive in coordination with the California Highway Patrol’s Highway Hugs Program and previously, Folsom Cordova Unified received over 1,000 school supplies for their students in a similar Back-to-School Supply Drive.
