ELK GROVE, Calif. – May 3, 2017 –A complaint of inappropriate conduct had been reported to Sheldon High School officials in March 2017, and law enforcement immediately launched an investigation.  All allegations of misconduct are taken very seriously and the employee was immediately placed on administrative leave pending the results of the investigation. Yesterday evening, Sheldon High School teacher, John (Juan) Young, was charged with inappropriate sexual conduct and was arrested at his residence.

Parents of students in Mr. Young’s classes were notified at the time the allegations were made to inform them that a qualified teacher was being assigned as a classroom replacement for the employee in question.

Today, school staff and parents were notified of the charges and arrest.

For information regarding the arrest, visit the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.
