VoiceThread Now Open!

ipad
Almost all of you are now connected on your child’s Seesaw portfolio. I hope you find it as informative and delightful as I do. We have been busy bees in class lately. Be sure to check out our latest videos on our class blog (blogs.egusd.net/petuya)

I would also like to invite you to view our first voicethread of the year. Follow this link https://voicethread.com/share/7505164/ and you will find an online example of our work that you can see and hear. VoiceThread is similar to Seesaw in that I can post student work and you can view it and make positive comments. VoiceThread is different in that you are able to see the work of the entire class. I encourage you to sign up for a free account at voicethread.com so you will be allowed to leave comments for multiple students and encourage our class.

Finding Our Butterflies

symbolic migration
Last fall we created butterflies with our third grade buddies and sent them to journeynorth.org to participate in a symbolic migration to Mexico. The butterflies have finally arrived! Follow this link to look for the butterflies we sent. Find Our Butterflies Enter the name Carroll and you will see the two schools that received our butterflies. Can you find those schools on a map of Mexico? Click through the photos. Can you see our butterflies? Compare their schools with ours. How are they the same and how are they different?

Pennies for Patients Update

penniesGood Morning Carroll Comets! My name is Janelle Gates and I am one of your Pennies for Patients Representatives.

Congratulations on a great job with the Pennies for Patients campaign! Some highlights of our campaign were:

• 40 classrooms earned a bronze pennant for raising at least 100 dollars.
• 18 classrooms earned a silver pennant for raising at least 200 dollars.
• 8 classrooms earned a gold pennant for raising over 300 dollars.
o Ms. Burnat’s class raised $364.95 and earned a pizza party
o Ms. Ellis’ class raised $699.26 and also earned a pizza party

We should all feel very proud of ourselves because every penny, nickel, dime, quarter, dollar, and check donated will help save the lives of cancer patients!

Our schools grand total raised was $10,011.01(ten thousand eleven dollars and one cent). That is 111% of our goal! That is also $2300 more than we raised last year as a school.

WAY TO GO CARROLL COMETS!

A note from Mrs. Petuya: I am very proud to announce that our class total was $204.34.

What Fun!

walking Our trip to see Shrek the Musical was fun, fun, fun! The weather was lovely and the companions were delightful. The FHS theater dept. made the play interactive with several chances for our students to participate on stage. The walk seemed a bit long but we counted five bird nests and eight fire hydrants along the way. We even saw the public library where many students have checked out extra books. Thank you to our many chaperones: Zoey’s mom, Brianna’s dad, Israel’s dad, Isabella’s mom, Na’Mat’s sister, Michael’s mom and sister. Please add some of your photos from today’s trip to our Shutterfly account.
