Jamestown DBQ

In early Jamestown, why did so many colonists die? Jamestown was one of the first English colonies. In 1607, 100 colonists came over to live in Jamestown, Virginia. They lived near the Powhatan Indian tribe. Life for the colonists was hard and many died. In early Jamestown, so many colonists died because of diseases, starvation, and Indian attacks

In early Jamestown, so many colonists died because of diseases. According to document A, “Because the adjacent  river and creek became brackish as water levels rose, reliable sources of fresh water would have been scarce….” This shows that so many colonist got sick due to the lack of fresh water. According to Document E, 100 people at Jamestown “sickened and half of the people died”. This demonstrates that many died due to diseases. In conclusion, people died from disease.

In early Jamestown, so many colonists died due to starvation. According to Document  A, “The island is not situated at a point of great natural food abundance.” This shows that there was not much food at the location they settled.   According to Document C, “70 settlers died due to starvation.” This shows that almost all the colonists died due to hunger. In conclusion, this is one of the reasons why colonists had died.

In early Jamestown, so many colonists died from Indian attacks. According to Document E,”…of the 120 men stationed near the falls, the Indians nearly killed half.”  This demonstrates that people died from Indian attacks. In conclusion, this proves to be one other reason why so many colonists died.

In early Jamestown, so many colonists died from diseases, starvation, and Indian attacks. With all this evidence, this proves that they have died due to these reasons. Now we can prove that the settlers died to these theories with this evidence. Although so many settlers died in the early years of Jamestown, it was still a successful colony.

All About My Cousin

My cousin Christian was a very nice person. For example, when I would go to his house he would always ask me what I wanted to do, instead of what he would want to do. Also when I was in the first grade he would give me all the answers to my homework. My cousin also really loved football, whenever I came to his house he would always want to play football. He also played for a team, he played running back and linebacker. He was also very fun I remember when we would always go to the pool and do flips. But, sadly he passed away by diabetes 2 weeks ago.

Ghost Mysteries part 2

By: Teeba, Zoe, Peyton, Paul, Madison, Nick, Jaron and, Tanisha

Peering into the dim hallway, Paul almost shot right out of his socks. Standing in the corridor, was emaciated specter, floating creepily. It’s ragged hair was blowing in an invisible wind.

He shivered, knowing he should contact his friends. The ghoul opened its eyes. They were milky white with cataracts.

Meanwhile, Teeba, Peyton, Jaron, Nick, Madison, and Zoe had banded together to find him, as they were really spooked out. “Where should we look first?” asked Teeba, uncertain and shivering with fright.

“We should split up,” said Madison.

“I’ll go with hmmm… this is a hard choice,” said Madison. “Actually I’ll go alone,” she decided.

“Well don’t go screaming to us when the ghoul finds you,” said Paul.

“I won’t because by then I’ll catch him in my magic box.” she promised.

“I wonder if you lost it,” sneered Jaron holding up  the box.

“Hey! That’s mine! You have your own!” said Madison.

“Is that so? I think your the one who stole my box, you liar,” commented Jaron.

“You’re bringing that up again? Like I told you I didn’t take your box!” said Madison.

At that moment the ghoul went into Jaron’s body and Jaron floated up to the ceiling. Everyone screamed with terror. “AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH” everyone said in unison.

Everyone wanted to help Jaron, but then the ghoul came out of the body and said “Two of you are my sacrifices to the goddess Eris and they are Zoe and Teeba”

“I hate this ghoul. I’m the special one here,” retorted Peyton.

“Well I’m glad that I’m not the sacrifice,” said Madison. “This ghoul is a good one to not pick me. Unlike the other one we found last year,”

“And I just want to get out of here!” Zoe said nervously.

“HEY GHOST FACE! COME AND GET ME!” yelled Nick throwing Madison’s magic box at him.

“I get some of the credit. It is MY box after all,” said Madison grabbing the box from Nick.

“But I’m the one who threw it so I get half the credit,” said Nick.

“So who’s up for some volleyball?” asked Jaron like nothing had happened.

“Ugh I’m too tired right now,” complained Peyton.

“I could go for a few rounds,” said Madison and Zoe.

Then they went out of the haunted house to go play volleyball at the beach….

Ghost Mysteries Part 3

At the beach, it was  3:30 am, so it was utterly empty.

“Hey you guys do know that this is the witching hour, right?” asked Madison.

“Yeah we know,” said Nick.

“Actually, I didn’t know.” said Zoe. part

“Are you sure?” inquired Teeba, she was a nervous wreck.

“Hey let’s go to that place that has the area code 666,” said Madison.

“Sure!” agreed Zoe enthusiastically.

“Wait did you hear that?” Paul said.

“Hear what?” Zoe said.

“That noise” Madison said

“Guys I hear loud breathing in the bushes,” said Madison

“It probably a bird or something,” Nick said nervously.

“I don’t like the sound of that.” Teeba whispered meekly.

As Peyton went in to investigate, she screamed. It was horrible, it was three men feasting on tiny little kids. When one of them saw us he said, “Hello little kids why don’t you feast with us.” They screamed for help and ran to the edge of the water, as far away from the three men as possibly. Not even humans ran that fast as they could stopped we thought they were gone. Paul and Jaron broke two very sharp sticks and, when the men  went to investigate the three men popped out pulling on paul’s arm. Jaron knocked the stick on the man head and he let go bumping into the other two men. Causing the men to let go of Paul’s hand. Instead of giving up they chased Teeba and the other friends to Teeba’s house. Teeba’s parents were not home and so wasn’t her big brother. The men broke into Teeba’s house they hid in the house but they didn’t know were. Teeba ran to go Investigate. Just then the men grabbed Teeba  and pulled her the in the closet. Then Jaron, Paul, and, Peyton would not let that happen . especially since Teeba was her best friend. They managed to get Teeba  out and got out of the house……..

Ghost Mysteries Part 1

By: Paul,Teeba,Jaron, Peyton, Tanisha, Nick, ,Madison and, Zoe

It was a dark and stormy Friday night, on Halloween. Seven friends named Teeba, Peyton, Paul, Jaron, Nick, Zoe and, Madison were trick-or-treating at 7:00 pm. By the time they were done trick-or-treating, it was 12:00 am.

When they were done they had a sleepover at Paul’s house. It was about 3:00 am when they heard a eerie noise, but Paul and Jaron were watching Youtube, so they didn’t notice the eerie noise. So Peyton, Teeba, Madison, and Zoe  told them very quickly. They grabbed a couple of flashlights and explored the house.

They split up into teams, the first team was Teeba,  Peyton, Madison, and Zoe. The second team was Jaron, Paul, and Nick. Peyton, Teeba, Madison, and Zoe explored the kitchen while Jaron, Paul, and Nick explored the living room.

Teeba was with Peyton, Madison, and  Zoe when there was a haunting and shrieky sound in the kitchen. So Paul went to go check it out, but then the door shut itself! Yet, Teeba managed to pick the lock and get Paul out. They didn’t know if the ghost was real or not. So they did the thing that came most naturally to them—they ran. They were hiding in every nook and cranny they could find.

In one particularly small, squished corner, Paul saw a something. To him it looked like a white shadow, or a wisp of smoke. He couldn’t be sure.
