We had a wonderful experience meeting Reko at the California Museum. She shared stories of what it was like to live in the internment camps right after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Thank you to the volunteers at the museum who took the time to teach us about dealing with challenging situations in life in a positive way.

Welcome to Ms. Tsukamoto!
February 17th, 2010 — Uncategorized
We had a special guest visit our classroom last week- Ms. Tsukamoto. She came and shared with our class her experience while in the Japenese Internment Camp after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. We were touched by her honesty and amazed to hear what she shared. Take a few minutes to listen to what students in our room learned.

Nature is green.
It taste like fresh mint.
It sounds like quiet birds chirping.
It smells like like fresh air.
It looks like diferent leaves falling.
It makes me feel calm.

Artistically talented
Loves a storm
Intelligent at everything
Young at heart
Sunlight shines in my window
Smart about all I say and do
Awesome at math
Determinde to get good grades
Enough ice cream for me
Nice to anyone
Never tell secrets
I like to shop until I drop
Silly family running and laughing

Foget it.
You must be kidding
I was talking to my friend.
I was doing my homework.
Iwas playing at home.
I was slepping.
I did not have any paper.
I was doing my housework.
I was on the busy watching T.V.
Time up? Uh?
All I have is a dumb list of excuses.
You like it? Really? No kidding
Thanks a lot. Would you like to see another one?

My hand fell off.
My paper fgot wet.
Times up? All I got is a list dump excuses.
You like it?Really?No kidding.

Forget it.
You must be kidding.
Excuses.
#1 I have a rare disease called nonwritepoemphobia.
#2 I broke my thumbs playing video games.
#3 My pencil broke.
#4 I was tired.
#5 Water spilled on it.
#6 I passed out.
#7 My shirt was itchy.
#8 I threw up.
Time’s up? Uh-oh! All I have is a dumb list of excuses.
You like it? Really? No kidding. Would you like to see another one?
I Am Poem by Isa
January 30th, 2010 — Poetry
I am handsome.
I wonder why we fight the war.
I hear my doorbell.
I see my photos.
I want all the money in the world.
I am cool.
I pretend to be a ninja sometimes.
I feel warm.
I touch my photos.
I worry about getting caught being a ninja.
I cry about my grandpa.
I am fun.
I understand what iI learn in school.
I say keeping my ninja story secret.
I dream of being rich.
I try not to fail in class.
I hope to be a hero someday.
I am Isa.
