International Day of Peace

We started our week with the video “Peace Today” in celebration of UN International Day of Peace, Sept. 21, 2009.  The students are writing stories and poems about peace, and will begin artwork  as well.  We continue our on going discussion about peace and how we can make contributions and become peacemakers in our homes, neighborhoods, classroom, school, and ultimately the world.

Week of August 31, 2009

As we enter our third week of school, the students wrote letters to Ms. Campos as we say “good-bye” and wish her the best.

We are adding more activities to our list of homework assignments.  The “story map” is our latest addition.  Soon, student will write their own paragraph summaries.

Students will be bringing home a packet of important information about many topics discussed at Back-to-School Night.  This includes topics such as homework policies, weekly reports, and supplies.  Weekly Reports will be distributed this Friday and every Friday.  Students are expected to take the report home and discuss it with parents/guardians.  Parents/guardians should send the signed form back to school with your child on Monday.

Thank you for sending healthy snacks to school for your child.  Your support is much appreciated!

Welcome Back to School!

Welcome to fourth grade!  My name is Ms. Cheung and I am excited to be your teacher for the 2009-2010 school year.  As we  jump into a new year, we will be learning many new concepts in math, expanding our reading and writing skills, and learning about the world around us through Social Studies and Science.

This is a critical year for learning organizational skills, which the students will need for the rest of their lives.

Back-to-School Night will be this Thursday, August 27, 2009 from 6-7 pm.  I hope to see the students and meet parents.

Parents, students, family, and friends…please feel free to use this site as a means to learn what  is happening  in our classroom.  Feel free to post a comment if you wish!

I am looking forward to an exciting year of learning and growing!

Many thanks to the Wallis Foundation for providing us with the transportation costs.  Also, thank you to Corky, Melanie, Elia, Al, and Nancy for guiding us through the stations and teaching us about the wetland area…Thank you to Mrs. Blumberg, Mrs. Agello, Mrs. Nguyen, and Mrs. Chavez for helping us throughout the entire trip!  We couldn’t have done it without any of you!
