Yolo Bypass Wetlands Field Trip – April 10, 2009

Birds, bugs, soil, salmon?  The students from Mrs. Ballard’s third grade class accompanied us to the Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area to study the wetland area.  We participated in four activities which included:

1)Migration Madness (bird study), 2) Wetland Pond Study, 3) Great Percolation Race, and  4) Salmon Senses.  We also had a great opportunity to study the birds in the wetland area with binoculars!  We saw coots, red-winged blackbirds, mallards, and many more varieties of birds!  What an awesome experience!!!

Many thanks to the Wallis Foundation for providing us with the transportation costs.  Also, thank you to Corky, Melanie, Elia, Al, and Nancy for guiding us through the stations and teaching us about the wetland area…Thank you to Mrs. Blumberg, Mrs. Agello, Mrs. Nguyen, and Mrs. Chavez for helping us throughout the entire trip!  We couldn’t have done it without any of you!

We will be creating a movie on this special field trip!
