Grading

Grades will be based on the following: tests, quizzes, projects, class work, and class participation. Excessive absences and tardiness will affect the student’s success. Students will receive progress reports every six weeks. If students receive a grade lower than a C- on any test or quiz, they have the opportunity to redo their incorrect problems to receive a better score. Each corrected problem will earn a 1/2 point and the two scores will be averaged together. Their corrections must be done on a separate piece of paper stapled to the front of their original test. Redo work will only be allowed in the first trimester and the second trimester. Redo work is only for tests and quizzes. Students will be graded on the following scale.

94%-100% = A (I understand! Ready to move on.)
90% – 93% = A-
87% – 89% = B+ (Mostly understand! Need to practice a few things.)
84% – 86% = B
80% – 83% = B-
77% – 79% = C+ (I understand some, need to ask questions, still learning.)
74% – 76% = C
70% – 73% = C-
67% – 69% = D+ (I don’t understand yet, I am still learning, I need more practice, I need to ask for help.)
64% – 66% = D
60% – 63% = D-
Below 59% = F (I don’t understand yet, I am still learning, I need more practice, I need to ask for help.)

Students have 1 week from the day they receive their test or quiz back from me to redo their work. After that date, those tests or quizzes will not be accepted. Again, redos will not be accepted in the second half of the second trimester or the third trimester.  This is done in order to prepare your student for 5th grade in which redos are not allowed at all.
