Reading, Writing, and Responding!
question of the week
End of the Year!
Jun 24th
Tell why you think all classrooms should have laptops. How has it helped you learn? What have you learned that you think all 4th graders should know?
Computers and Communication
Jun 8th
Our new Open Court unit is on communication. How do we use computers to communicate? In our class, what programs have we used to communicate with others? Is it important to use proper punctuation and grammar in our electronic communication? Why or why not?
Blogs and Blogging Comments
Mar 4th
Today you have three tasks.
- Click on In2Books. Log in and see if your pen pal has responded to you. If not, then log out. If so, read the letter and respond to it.
- Look through our previous blog posts and read the comments. Pick a comment and respond to it by clicking “reply.” I will be calling you up to edit your latest comments. Comments with poor spelling, grammar, and/or punctuation will NOT be approved until edited!
- Check out some of our classmates’ blogs! They are just getting started, but you can see what they look like. Comment if you want to. Look at the links on the side for our class’s blogs.
Science Experiments & Blogging
Feb 11th
Today you have two tasks:
- Write a comment to this post telling the class your science question and hypothesis. Use correct spelling and grammar! PROOFREAD before you post!
- Read the comments to last week’s post on Mystery to Medicine. Write back to at least 2 other classmates.
Student bloggers:
If you have a blog, the topic of the week is favorite games. Write a post on your blog about your favorite game. Tell us why it is your favorite game, and explain the rules to your game. If it is online, please provide a link to the game (ask Mrs. McCartney if you don’t know how to do this).
From Mystery to Medicine
Jan 30th
We are two weeks into our theme called “From Mystery to Medicine.” Do you think you would like to have a career in medicine? Why or why not?
As you type, keep in mind that your audience is your teacher and your classmates. Use school appropriate language and be sure to remember your COPS (Capitalization, Organization, Punctuation, Spelling)!
Question of the Week, Part 2!!
Dec 10th
Today in class, we learned about our classroom blog. We learned about what a blog is, what a post is, and how to comment on a post. We also discussed Internet safety (see the page on blog rules). Our classmates had the chance to comment on the first question of the week. Read through your classmates comments by clicking on “comments”. Your extra credit question is:
Choose a book that a classmate picked as their favorite book. Tell why you liked that book too. If you have not read any of the books your classmates have read, then tell which book you think you would most like to read and why.
Question of the Week
Dec 9th
What is your favorite book? Why is it your favorite? Be specific!! Click on comments and add your answer. I have done an example for you to help you out. Remember to use your fake email address, and only your first name and last initial.
