I am officially on leave for my leg. I have a fractured and bruised tibia and can bear no weight. I will be writing the lesson plans. Ms. Umi is looking for a sub now. Blue notes will stop as of this week. If you need anything please call or email me. I will hopefully be back on the 30th

I had a doctors appointment today and they have modified my work. I cannot attend the trip tomorrow. We are all very lucky that my mom (Mrs. Essex) will be able to sub tomorrow and attend the trip. She knows the kids in addition to having taught 22 years in the district. This trip easy! The district food processing plant is all inside. The tour is given by district employees. The students do a tour, taste test, and a nutrition lesson. The bus pulls up directly outside the doors so you will be in good hands!!!! I will know by Friday if I get to return to work. I fractured my leg and bruised the bone. I have orders for no weight on the leg which is why I cannot come in tomorrow. Please feel free to call me if you need anything!

Administration has a new procedure for arrival. We are testing this out to see if it works. There were some parents concerned with the students being outside so we are trying a multi dismissal. We are very open to suggestions. For now, please make sure you enter through the cafeteria in the morning and wait until your child’s grade level is called. Please let me know if you have concerns or suggestions. I understand that this year has had a lot of changes to procedures. Please know we are trying to make things as safe as we can given of all the tragedy this year around the U.S.

Blue notes are going home today!
Going Home Plan- I had a sub Friday and she sent these home 
I have sent a new one for everyone to fill out. I appologize for the inconvenence. For safety, I want to make sure I have all of these so I think its best just to redo them. Thank you!!!
Sub- It seems there were a lot of issues with Friday’s sub. I have requested that she not return. Please talk with your child about good behavior with a sub. A lot of the students decided to do things they know are not okay (Like playing in the bathroom, using poor language, and being uncooperative). I know that it is difficult to have a sub but the students still need to have good behavior. I did talk about this with the students and we reviewed school rules. I make every effort to arrange a sub I know. Unfortunately, this time I wasn’t able. I am having some knee problems and it has required some last minute scans and doctor visits. As most of you know, speciality scans and doctors don’t always have flexible schedules . I do always try to schedule these things after work when possible.

Weekly notes went home Monday! Please remember to sign and return.
Field Trip information is going home Tuesday. This trip is FREE! Teachers who participate in SHAPE get a free field trip for the class.
Spelling- We are starting signs for sounds spelling. These are review words from the homework. There is a practice test first and then graded test. Please look over the test I sent today! We will do these throughout the week to help build sound/spelling understanding. It is a great program!
Behavior- Monday, I had a very serious discussion with the class about bad words. We have had a lot of poor language happening. This is normal for this time of year in first grade. I have this conversation every year about this time. I have made very clear that this is not acceptable. Not only will there be no curse words, but we will be polite to everyone. We also talked about how this is not funny and rather than join in (Laughing or repeating) you should tell an adult. You might want to follow up at home with reminders in the morning about using nice words toward others.

Wednesday is the field trip. Please remember your sack lunch (All items must be disposable). Parent volunteers must arrive by 8:45.
Homework went home today. The weekly note will go out next week.
Fundraisers and pictures will go home tomorrow. The student selling the most for the fundraiser will win a bike!!!
Tomorrow, I have a meeting in the office. If it runs late, Mrs. Stanger will pick up the students.

Please help your child remember his/her coat! We go outside on rainy days to use the bathroom, go to the cafeteria, go to computers, go to the library (Rain or shine)… If you take your child’s coat with you ,or they forget to bring one, they will get wet. If there is no rain, they go out for recess even if it is wet on the ground and cold. It is important your child has a coat at school. I do remind them the day before to bring one and I make them wear it to recess. I know it is California and they won’t freeze but they still get cold 
Thank goodness it is not snowing! I have many teacher friends who send kids out in the snow. I am so glad I only have to worry about coats

Friday is a minimum day with a 12:30 dismissal.
Spring break starts March 23 and goes to April 7th.

The field trip is April 10th!
Picture day is this Wednesday!!!! Students can wear “Dress Clothes.” Please no play clothes or high heel shoes. The “Dress Clothes” must follow district policy on appropriate school dress. You must pre-pay for the pictures.
