Curbside Meal Pick-Up TIME CHANGE

EGUSD Summer Meal Program

Due to the extreme heat, we are changing the meal service time to 6:45 a.m. to 8 a.m. beginning tomorrow Tuesday, August 18, 2020.  Since the forecast continues to show 100° + temperatures through at least next Tuesday, August 25, 2020 we felt that it was best for our employees, as well as our families, to not come out in this extreme heat.  We will re-assess the meal service time as we move forward.

E.G.U.S.D. Extends Summer Drive-Thru Meal Program

Twenty School Sites to Provide Meals from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. through July 31, 2020

ELK GROVE, Calif. – June 26, 2020 – With the start of the next school year still more than six weeks away, the Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD) will extend its Summer Meals Program for students during the summer break. The Department of Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) will continue to offer a drive-through and grab-n-go meal service for more families and their children at 20 school sites through July 31, 2020. No meal services will be offered June 29th through July 3rd, but service will resume on Monday, July 6, 2020. Families in need of meals from June 29 through July 2 will receive five lunches and five breakfasts per child on Friday, June 26, 2020.

All EGUSD meal services will be available for any child, 18 years and younger, regardless of free or reduced eligibility or school of attendance. Children must be present for service unless parents/guardians have received the proper validation. Validation received during the regular school year service will continue to be honored. To receive a validation form, parents/guardians must bring children on initial visit to the school for service. Food service staff will account for children present and provide the family with a validation form. With proper validation, parents may pick up meals without children present. Meals will be served between 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Parents do not need to be present in order for children to receive meals. The meals provided each day will include lunch for that day and breakfast for the following day. The drive through meal service will be present in the parking lot or bus lane at each school site listed below.

Meals are not for consumption on site, and children should return to their residence once the meals are received. When waiting for meals please practice six feet social distancing. This expanded program will continue until further notice, excluding Saturdays and Sundays.

Please review these Guidelines during Meal Pick-up and when Heating Frozen Foods.
