EGUSD Proposal for An Increase in Substitute Teacher Pay Rate at the Sept. 7 Board meeting

ELK GROVE, Calif. – August 31, 2021 – The Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD) will propose an increase in substitute teacher pay rate to the Board of Education at the September 7, 2021 Board Meeting. Contingent upon Board approval, the newly proposed rates will be retroactive to September 1, 2021. The proposed rates range from $160 to as high as $350 per day and simplified the tiered system making it easier and faster for an interested substitute to stay in an assignment for a longer period of time. Caldor Fire Donations

UPDATE: Between our two schools our families have donated over $1,100.00 in gift cards and cash along with toilet paper, AA batteries, toothpaste, and cards for the amazing firefighters.  WOW!  We have such AMAZING families.  Thank you so very much….lets keep it going!!!

Sunrise and McGarvey Elementary Schools have teamed up to raise donations for families of the Caldor Fires.  Donation campaign runs from August 31 to September 10, 2021.  Those collecting for the fire victims are asking for donations of gift cards or cash.  Please help support those in need.  For more information please watch the following video our students put together.

Immunization Clinic Information

Elk Grove Unified School District is offering immunization clinics at Maeola Beitzel Elementary School on February 4 and 18 from 11:30am-3:00pm.  You must schedule an appointment ahead of time.  Please remember all NEW ENROLLMENTS must meet immunization requirements prior to enrolling in school.  All current EGUSD students who are out of compliance are encouraged to be up-to-date with their immunizations.  Please remember you MUST bring your student(s) current immunization records.  If your child is a new enrollment and does not have immunization records, please contact the Sacramento County Public Health’s immunization clinics (flyer is above) to receive further medical support and resources.

Family Leadership Academy

FACE is committed to provide cultural leadership and enrichment opportunities to motivate,
engage and support families in becoming leaders and partners in the co-education of their
child’s educational journey. FLA Facilitators will guide, coach and create a welcoming
environment and platform for families to share, examine and explore “supports to achieve and
sustain racial equity through proactive and preventative measures” (EGUSD Educational
Equity 2020-2021 Plan). Each workshop is designed to support the previous session. Families
are encouraged to attend all five workshops. Our FLA motto is: “ #Every Parent is a Leader!”

2021-2022 New Student Registration- Begins January 13th, 2021 7:30 am

Dates for Enrollment and Eligibility for Transitional Kindergarten (TK), Kindergarten – Traditional (T), Modified Traditional (MT), Year Round (YR) 

Transitional Kindergarten
If you live within the boundaries of Robert J. McGarvey Elementary and your child will turn 5 years old between September 2 – December 2, you may register him/her for that school year.

Registration for Transitional Kindergarten for the 2021-2022 school year begins at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 – at your home elementary school.  Welcome packets are available daily from 7:30am-3:00pm.

Kindergarten (T, MT, YR)
If you live within the boundaries of Robert J. McGarvey Elementary and your child will turn 5 years old on or before September 1, 2021, you may register him/her for the 2021-2022 kindergarten school year.

Registration for Kindergarten for the 2021-2022 school year begins at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 – at your home elementary school.  Welcome packets are available daily from 7:30am-3:00pm.

To Enroll

  1. Identify your home school. Use our online school boundary locator. (www.egusd.net/enrollment/boundary-info)
  2. Pick up an enrollment packet from your home school or download a copy from the home school web page or district web page. (www.egusd.net/students-families/egusd-forms/#welcome)
  3. Review the enrollment process checklist and complete the enrollment section.
  4. Submit completed enrollment section and documents to your home school.
  5. To meet your child’s needs and ensure their appropriate placement, complete the Supplemental Student Information Form in the New Student Welcome Packet available at your home school or download a copy from the home school web page or District web page.
