My thoughts about the CST

May 21, 2012

I think I did good on the CST  and I hope I get Advanced. I thought the CST was pretty easy on the ELA part. The easiest questions on ELA ,for me, were the comprehension ones. On Math it was hard on the first couple of questions but then I started remembering how to do them and it got easier. I was only stuck on some geometry questions, but I figured them out eventually.

Cats vs. Dogs

May 15, 2012

In the fight between cats and dogs, dogs clearly outshine boring cats. Ever since people first started having pets they’ve been arguing about who’s better, dogs or cats. Both dogs and cats are cute, cuddly, and good companions, but which is really the top pet?

There are so many reasons why dogs are better than cats. Dogs are smart and can learn up to 165 words. They can be trained easily and be very helpful to humans. Dogs would bark to alert you if the house is on fire and cats would just sneak out. They help people by guiding the blind, hunting criminals, herding cows and sheep, and smell gas leaks and cancer. Dogs will also search and find missing people. They guard people and people’s houses. They bring happiness to people and help people’s stress.   Dogs are more energetic and fun companions. Dogs won’t scratch you when you’re bathing them.  They will listen to you more than cats. They will always be happy with you and run with you in the morning for exercise. Dogs would play ball with you at the park and cats would sleep all day on your couch. They are man’s best friend!

People say cats are fun, but they spend 80% of their day sleeping and loafing around. Who would want a pet that won’t play with you? Cats  Cats are so dumb and boring they can only learn 35 words in their whole life! People say cats are royalty and are elegant. I don’t think there is anything elegant about cats throwing up hairballs every day. I don’t see anything elegant about cats shedding fur.

That’s why next time you’re deciding what pet to get you’ll know to pick a dog because they are smart, helpful, and energetic.  Now you clearly know cats are better than dogs.

What I did yesterday…

May 14, 2012

I went to San Francisco yesterday but I forgot that it was Mother’s day… We did a lot of fun things and my legs hurt a lot at the end of the day. First we walked all the way to pier 39 from where we were parked at pier 17 . We bought chocolate and went to eat at this place for breakfast, that had clam chowder in a bread bowl. After eating, we went shopping and then my sister went on a carousel. Then we went to a candy shop and outside there were telescopes that my sister and I looked thru. We saw the Golden Gate Bridge and an Island called Alcatraz with the telescopes. After, a cartoon artist drew my sister and I with big bobble-heads. After that, we went shopping again. Then we went to The Aquarium of   the Bay.

What’s important to me…

May 11, 2012

I think getting good grades is very important to me. If I didn’t get good grades I would probably be DEAD. I like to get good grades because I want to make my parents proud and myself proud. Music is also very important to me because it helps me be happy when I’m sad and when I’m bored. If I didn’t have music in my life then I wouldn’t be able to sing in the shower or hum in class. If there were no music the world would be a sad, lonely, and boring place. My relationship with my cousins is very important to me too. They are my only family that lives close to me because almost all of my family is in Mexico. If I didn’t have my cousins I would be very lonely.

Things I’m good at

May 9, 2012

I’m good at reading things. I read big books and small books and cereal boxes and manga. I probably read manga the most because their just Japanese comics. I always read cereal boxes when I’m eating cereal because I get bored. I’m also good at listening. I listen when Mr.Ferreirae is talking and pay attention. I also listen when my parents are talking so I always know what their talking about though sometimes they talk in long code words that I don’t understand because they probably know I’m listening. I’m also good at singing horribly with Jacquelyn and also my cousins.

Mr.Penermon’s Letter

May 8, 2012

I thought Mr.Penermon’s letter was encouraging us to work hard and do are best on the STAR test. He said to never give up even if you get tired or frustrated. Mr.Penermon said to work hard and give 100% on the test and he can’t wait to brag about his smart new students he’s getting from Reese. He also said to make him proud, our parents proud, and everyone proud. That’s what I think Mr.Penermon’s letter is about.

Why do I want to do well on the CST?

May 7, 2012

I want to do well on the CST because it will determine what classes I get into in Middle School. If I score poorly I will get into lower classes and if I get a good score then I might get into honors classes.  If I score well in math, I might get into Algebra instead of Pre-Algebra and be one year ahead of math for the rest of school. I want to do well on the CST  because if I don’t, I will get a bad score which is what DON”Twant.

King Midas

May 2, 2012

Once there was a King named Midas. He had a beautiful daughter named Marygold. King Midas loved gold. His castle was filled with gold but he was still not happy with the amount of gold had. One night when he was in his dungeon, admiring his gold, he  heard a voice from a stranger. “You sure have a lot of gold Midas.”, the voice said.  ”But, this is only a part of the world’s gold.”, King Midas sighed. “What?! So you are not satisfied?”, the voice said. “I wish everything I touched turned into gold.”, Midas said. “That is a good wish. You wouldn’t regret this?”, the stranger inquired. “Of course not!”, The King exclaimed. “Tomorrow when the sun comes up, everything that you touch will turn in to gold.”, he finished.

When King Midas woke up he touched the cup on his tea table. Nothing happened. “It was just a daydream.” King Midas sighed. Then the light from the sun shone into his room. Immediately the blanket he was touching turned to fabric gold. He got up very fast and touched everything that he could in his room, turning them to gold. When he went to put on his glasses they turned into gold. “Oh well. I could see without them. But I am going to miss reading novels.”, King Midas said. He skipped happily to his garden and touched every single rose. He smiled in amazement as he saw them lose their dark red color and turn into yellow petals of gold and the stem lose its light green color and turn into gold.

When the king went breakfast, he grabbed his cup and it turned to gold. ” Well my coffee is still in there.”, he said. The second his lips touched the coffee it turned into liquid gold. He grabbed a orange which turned to gold. He lay single finger on his buttered toast and the same thing happened. King Midas sighed. “I’m so hungry!”, he yelled, frustrated. “Papa!”, Marygold yelled. “Yes my dear?”, Midas said. “I wanted to give you a rose from the garden but all of them have spoiled! There’s not a single rose that is not gold!”, Marygold exclaimed and ran to give her father a hug. King Midas kissed his daughter gently on the forehead. “I’m sorry Marygold.”, he said. But there was no answer. He had turned his daughter into gold.

King Midas cried for help. “Please help! I don’t want this wish! I want my dear Marygold back!” “Now do you like your wish and would you wish to keep it?”, the stranger’s voice said. “No! No! No! I just want my Marygold back!”, King Midas sobbed. “Go then to the Lake of Hope and get a gold pitcher. Jump in the water and fill it. Spray water on an item that was turned to gold and it will return to its original state.”, the voice said calmly.King Midas did as he was told and threw the water over the still Marygold.”Marygold!”, Midas yelled. “Why am I wet?”, she said.

20 years later…..

“And that, kids, was the story of  when I could turn anything into gold.”, old King Midas said. “Good story Grandpa!”, Rosie said. Midas smiled and stroked her golden hair. He looked at Evan. “And what do you think Evan?”, he asked. Evan replied with a little nod. He looked at Marygold. “And what did you think Marygold?”, he asked. She grinned. “Come on kids, it’s time to go.”, she told Rosie and Evan. “Okay mama.”, they replied.
