The Jag Institute is an after school program that serves our students every day. It operates from 2:30-6:00 Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays; 1:30-6:00 on Early Out Wednesdays; and 12:30-6:00 on Minimum Days. It addresses the three key components: Homework Support; Literacy Instruction, and Enrichment. If you are interested in this program, please fill out a registration form in the Administration Office. Further questions and concerns should be addressed to Steve Alessi, Academic Program Coordinator.

Key Components

Students enrolled in this program may receive targeted instruction (TI) from a certificated teacher. Students may have been referred if they need support in areas of instruction that may be a weakness. Students may have also been referred for support in areas of strength that may need targeted instruction to further advance them in the core areas.

Students will all have at least an hour of Academy time to complete homework in a small-group instruction. Those students receiving TI will also have the opportunity to complete their homework once they are done with their small-group instruction with their teacher.

Students will engage in an Enrichment Activity each day.  Enrichment Activities include Art, Drama, Sports, Character Education, Zumba, and more! Enrichment Activities will consist of longer periods of time on Wednesdays and Fridays, due to a longer scheduled day or no homework.

The Jag Institute also provides Snack and Supper. Snack is served from 2:30-2:45 which consists of juice and small treat. Supper begins at 5:15 and is a cold supper. It will serve an item from each of the core food groups. If your child is allergic to specific foods, please let us know by indicating these allergies on the registration form

Attendance Policy
  • Students must attend every day while they are in school. Students who have more than three unexcused absences may be dropped from the Jag Institute.
  • Students must attend the entire length of the program daily. If students are picked up early more than three times without prior approval, they may be dropped from the program.
  • If your child participates in a parallel program (an activity that occurs during the Jag time period, such as athletics, off-campus tutoring, music lesson, etc.), you must submit a “Parallel Program” form.
Pick-Up Policy

The names that you give on the application are the only adults that will be allowed to pick up your child from the Isabelle Jackson Jag Institute unless prior arrangements have been made. Anyone picking up your child must be 18 years of age and must present a valid ID to identify himself/herself.

The program begins immediately after school is dismissed and you may begin picking up your student(s) at 5:40 with the program ending at 6:00 pm.

If you need to sign your student out before 5:30, please report to the main office to see Mrs. Gardiner who can assist you. Sign-out in the MP does not begin until 5:40.

Students should be in attendance every day that the Jag Institute is in session. Students who are picked up early/late more than three times may be dropped from the Jag Institute.

Discipline Policy

The Isabelle Jackson Jag Institute is a continuum of the regular school day. The same Code of Conduct applies to the after school program. Our three encompassing program rules are BE RESPECTFUL, BE RESPONSIBLE, and BE SAFE. We will work closely with parents to promote success in the after school environment. After three referrals for behavior, students may be dropped from the program.

Professional Learning

The Jag Institute may be closed for three days the entire school year for professional development. We will give you ample time to make other arrangements for child care. Once dates are finalized, they will be published on the website and a letter will be sent home with your child.
