Kristin Bruni, a Chicago based artist who studied at Illinois State University. In 2003 she went back into photography and used the digital, and her mirror style. She liked the vibrant, and designs and patterns. She liked the symmetry.

The art and craft of embellishing designs, pictures, and typographic pages with color for a more pleasing effect than obtained in black and white . Color printing dated way back to the 13th century in China. In China they used woodblock printing appearing in books of art. They also used it in Europe and Japan. Another process was Chromolithopgraphy, Chromoxylogrophy, and nishiki-e. Some artists were Keisai Eisen, and William Kurtz.

Skateboarding. It’s risky, scary, exciting, and mysterious. Skateboarding is no joke and you never know what you’re going to get. Getting hurt and upset is a big part of skating. Chris Angeles, the Franklin wildcat knows. There is a lot that goes into skateboarding, finding the right place, being patient, being careful, and as well as being positive. Photographing skateboarders is not easy. It takes a lot of skill and patience, and practice, as well as perfect timing, and a good factor is angle. The angle of the photo makes a big difference, taking multiple shots just to get one good picture will happen. Having lots of sunlight is optional, and can really bring out the subjects tricks and movements, shooting at night is also a good idea.

However before you can start snapping photos, you need to get to that one skate spot that you feel comfortable in. Not all skaters like skate parks, some prefer the streets. Risky, but worth it. It gives a more natural feel and it is very creative when a skater can use his natural surroundings.

Finding the spot

Finding the spot doesn’t happen right away, there could be multiple spots; any area where you feel as if you can get a good trick or two. You could grow on that spot and end up going there occasionally. It all depends on the rider. Finding your spots make time some time but it is all worth it once you do. Photographing Chris finding his spot was not very hard, just a simple cruise around elk grove.  After finding the spot, you might want to warm up with an ollie or two.

Chris started off simple, since he has not been skating for about 6 months due to an injury in his arc. However he kept it simple, but smooth.

Notice that foot placement and timing is very important. as for the photographer, timing is also the key, trying to get the right position and movement capturing the trick, not the before or after.

Nose slide

Even after being off the board for so long, Chris still has a few tricks up his sleeve like the nose slide. Again, capturing the right movement is key.

Here, Chris is showing off his manual, the key to this is balance and leg muscle. seems like these tricks were easy, right? Wrong. Some tricks take tons of practice, and even results in failure.

errors happen

Errors pay off, so if you mess up don’t worry, you’ll get it soon enough. Photographers that tag along and take photos of skaters have to realize mistakes will happen, and if you snap a picture of them messing up, relax, just give them time. Not all pictures come out great; not all tricks come out great.

After a long days of work for both the skater and photographer, you feel accomplished and tired. A lot of mistakes, but a lot of memories and achievements.

When I take my photos, I try to make the photos different. I like getting different angles, and making sure the photos has a lot of color. I like getting color and making it part of the photo. I get this to work because when we are able to use props I want to use props where the colors compliment each other, or make them so that one prop stands out more than the other in the picture. I know the work is going well when I take the picture, and it makes me go wow, I like this. My favorite things about my work are its angles and colors and creativity. The best aspect of my pictures are it’s plain-ness and focus. If the picture is not focussed at all then I delete it. I think the only pattern n my work is color, color that stands out and makes the prop pop. I really enjoy taking pictures of landscapes, and food because both have some much to offer, and it makes the picture look very good.

For my final project I would like to take pictures of… nature! Nature is al around us and I feel as if people overlook it, and do not admire it’s beauty that it gives us. There are so many aspects of nature that make it wonderful, and fun to take pictures of such as trees, water, bugs, the sky, grass, animals, flowers, rain, etc.

One nature photographer is John Shaw. He travels the world taking photos of many things ranging from animals, to landscapes, to flowers, to buildings, people, and more. John Shaw has been a photographer since the early 1970s. Johns work has been published in many books, and magazines including National Geographic, and National wildlife. Throughout his life he has written 6 books.

I feel has if nature photography should be fun to take because nature is everywhere it just depends on what I choose to take.

Nature photography is photography of photos taken outdoors which is devoted to displaying natural elements like wildlife, plants, and landscapes. It also focuses on natural textures. Capturing wildlife is getting photos of animals in their natural habitat. Capturing their movements and the small details like eating, sleeping, running. A good photo technique for nature is macro, like bees, and other insects and bugs. Try using color because color can really identify an animal or subject. I tried focussing on landscapes from ants eye view. Capturing animals or insects on campus is hard, luckily I was able to photograph ants on a tree. I was not able to get pictures of natural water, taking pictures at school really restricted me, and I should have gotten some outside of school. water and more animals would have been good because I would’ve been able to capture more aspects of nature instead of just landscapes and bugs. I like nature photography because I get to use macro. Macro is fun because it gets you in deep and you can see all the little details.

So my idea of my self portrait was to take a bunch of my old polaroid’s I had in my house, and photoshop in pictures of stuff that defined . My self portrait idea was supposed to show the reflection of my life to make it look old, and memorable. So some of the stuff that I chose to put in the polaroid’s were; a volleyball because I love to play volleyball it was very fun after I got into it. My DBZ video collection, shows my child hood cartoon and what I grew up on and how it made me, me. It gave me my childish heart. My Chicago Bulls basketball shorts, shows my love and interest for basketball and the team especially. A picture of me in the upper right shows my interest in clothing and how I like to dress simple, but “different”. Lastly my baby picture, to also show my childishness and immaturity. The photoshop tools I used were basic, I only used the ones I needed, so i did a lot of selections to get the pictures into the polaroids and small tools like the eraser, the clone stamp, and the blur tool.
