Scrimmage in Galt

Our students represented Franklin very well in a scrimmage we had in Galt.  The Garbage Gargantuans earned the highest marks on their project presentation and the Trashformers received the highest marks on the Core Values project.  We still have a lot of work to do with our robots and programming, but it is coming together nicely.  We will be ready for the actual competition on the 22nd!

Project Work

Students are hard at work on their projects.  They’ve come up with some really great ideas!  They’re excited to present to the Franklin Staff soon!

Caution: Students Hard at Work

Students are hard at work programming, adding attachments, and strategizing!  They’ve also been hard at work on their projects with Mrs. Emerson.  We’ve got trash on our minds!

Robot Strategy

Students began brainstorming the best approach to completing each Robot Task.  They discussed point values and difficulty.  Our next step is programming the robots!

Progress!

The students have been working hard on putting the LEGO sets together and doing research for the project!

2015 Trash Trek Challenge!!

Our new season has officially begun!  We met today for the first time and watched the videos below to find out what the challenge was and hear about the project and robot game.  We then began assembling the LEGO pieces to build the robot challenge!  The students were super excited!

Getting Ready for a Scrimmage!

Our club is hard at work getting ready for our scrimmage!  Our 6th graders were away for science camp last week, so we have some time to make up.  They are getting their programs set up just right.

By

Programming!

Students have begun programming robots and adding attachments.  Teams are working well together and planning out their missions.  I’m always impressed with what they can come up with!  We also watched some YouTube videos from last year’s competition to get some inspiration.

Project Research

Our club began researching their topic for the Project side or our challenge.  We have to think of a new way people can learn about a topic they choose.  So far it looks like the two teams have narrowed it down to Pompeii and The 50 States.

Robot Challenge Assembly Day 1-2

The students were hard at work on day 1 and day 2 constructing all the missions for the Robot Game.  The two teams are working well together and building friendships already!
