Posting an email that was sent to all families with a valid email address in Synergy this afternoon:

Good Afternoon Franklin Families,

We had an absolutely wonderful first day of school getting to know your children!  Teachers spent time learning names and facilitating activities to help students to get to know the classroom routines and feel more comfortable in their new setting.

Thank you so much for your enthusiasm and support as we begin 2019-2020 school-year!

I would like to express my sincerest apologies for the traffic situation this morning.  There were 3 main issues impacting our traffic pattern that created a very slow and frustrating experience for some:

1) The gravel parking lots close to Franklin were not available for parent parking due to work being done by the adjacent cemetery

2) The crew from SMUD had closed traffic on Franklin Blvd. in the southern direction

3) There was a partial closure on Kammerer Road – this delayed both personal vehicles and a bus

In addition, since it was the first day of school, there were many families wanting to park and walk their students to classrooms and wish them a great first day – I did the same with my own children.

Again, I apologize for the impact this congestion had on many of our beautiful families.

Due to these unforeseen circumstances, we did not mark any student tardy until after all buses had arrived and all vehicles had been cleared out of the parent pick up line.  This was about 8:30am.

Unfortunately, I understand these same 3 issues will be in place tomorrow as well.   We will do our best to safely move traffic through our lot.  We have invited police services to join us and hope to have their assistance.  Please also allow some extra time for morning drop off tomorrow.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Warmly,

Diane Davis
