Valley High School Academy / Pathway Programs

Digital Communications-Graphic Arts Pathway — Students work with high-end technology, use industry-standard software and have the opportunity to experience how the digital arts profession works. Students will receive a high quality education in the digital communications and graphic arts fields as well as developing the highly transferable skills of creative thinking, teamwork, collaboration and problem-solving. Students will develop a portfolio of professional quality art that will be articulated with post secondary partners. When students leave this program, they are truly prepared for both college and career. Digital Communications provides the skills necessary to gain employment or to pursue advanced study. Course instruction is enhanced through mentoring and internships.

EKG / Medical Assisting / Phlebotomy Programs — 
The standards for the Patient Care programs apply to occupations or functions involved in the prevention, treatment, and management of illness and the preservation of mental and physical well-being through the services offered by the medical and allied health professions. The standards specify the knowledge and skills needed by professional and technical personnel pursuing careers in these programs.

Entrepreneurship & Innovation Pathway —
The Marketing, Sales and Services sector is designed to align career-path course work with current and projected employment opportunities. Marketing includes the processes and techniques of identifying, promoting and transferring products or services to consumers and is a function of almost every business. It exists within an environment of rapidly changing technology, interdependent nations and economies and increasing demands for ethical and social responsibility. As California businesses compete in the global marketplace, the need for employees with business expertise and the ability to analyze and respond to emerging trends will continue to grow.

Fire and Emergency Services Pathway —
Careers in public service are unique because they center on challenging issues that define the public agenda and involve the provision of vital services to the public—from local to international levels. Public service professions offer many career opportunities including the following career pathways: Public Safety, Emergency Response, and Fire Services. Students engage in an instructional program that integrates academic and technical preparation and focuses on career awareness, career exploration, skill preparation in the industry and preparation for post-secondary education and training.

HealthTECH Academy — Tomorrow’s Employees in Careers in Health (Health TECH) is an innovative public health program that combines a rigorous college preparatory curriculum with advanced technology, student workplace experience and direct contact with local health agencies. Together these elements create a school-to-work educational experience for all students interested in health-related occupations. The Health TECH program ensures that students receive a solid foundation in workplace literacy and participate in specialized performance-based curricula that will prepare them to compete successfully in tomorrow’s technological society.

All course content and integrated curricula have been designed to meet model curriculum standards and Elk Grove Unified School District graduation requirements, as well as university, college and community college entrance requirements. Health TECH is a district-certified academy.

Project Lead the Way – Engineering for Manufacturing Pathway —
This is a New and Emerging Sector. PLTW Engineering empowers students to step into the role of an engineer, adopt a problem-solving mindset and make the leap from dreamers to doers. The program’ s courses engage students in compelling, real-world challenges that help them become better collaborators and thinkers. From launching space explorations to delivering safe, clean water to communities, engineers find solutions to pressing problems and turn their ideas into reality. Students take from the courses in demand knowledge and skills they will use in high school and for the rest of their lives, on any career path they take.
