There is a high demand for 46,000 automotive service technicians and mechanics to fill roles through 2026, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Recognizing this need, Elk Grove High School and Elk Grove Ford have developed a strategic partnership to support learning in the school’s Automotive Technology Pathway, a Career Technical Education (CTE) program, in hopes of preparing students for high-wage, high-demand careers with a competitive edge when entering the workforce. Through the new alliance, Elk Grove Ford donated a 2015 Ford Focus to the automotive program on Thursday, March 14, 2019 to provide students with a hands-on learning tool to better understand digital systems components and additional diagnostic tools. The vehicle donation will provide students enrolled in Elk Grove High School’s Automotive Pathway program a different level of automotive experience that exposes them to digital systems and additional diagnostic tools during hands-on learning classroom instruction in order to be college, career and life ready with the skills necessary to thrive in the current economy.
