On Thursday, October 25, 2018, the District’s Department of College and Career Connections hosted its annual EXPLORE: Map Your Future (MYF) event, which allows students the opportunity to explore over 70 high school academies and pathways at a family-friendly setting. This annual event introduces the District’s high school career-themed academy and pathway programs to the communities of Elk Grove. Student-run activities at MYF also provide an opportunity for students and their families to learn about career areas of interest and the path to get them there, specifically, high school pathway programs that lead to post-secondary credentials and a career.
This year, over 1000 students and their families participated in this event taking advantage of all the hands-on, real-world activities, as well as interacting with high school students, teachers, colleges and employers representing each pathway. There were robots to battle, widgets to design, virtual reality to experience, food to sample, and videos to create! Additionally, the high school’s mascots brought a fun, festive feel to the event.
