Distance Learning: How to Get Started?

This is Mr. Newkom, welcome to the 2020/2021 school year.  For the next few weeks, I will be focusing on making sure all students and families are successfully connecting to their distance learning.  I will be posting several videos created by my fellow computer teachers around the school district that will help those of you new to Distance learning.

There are some slight differences mostly in their school blogs or websites but concepts are the same. These are valuable resources to refer to to get started.

  1. Classlink Portal from Home: Click here to see a “cheat Sheet” one way to get to the Classlink Portal so your student can access Google Classroom and other resources.
  2. It will be easiest for most to use an EGUSD issued Chromebook.  One Chromebook is available for each student in your house.  If you opt-out of a district device the following video will help you navigate your home Google Accounts so your student will have the access they need. Trouble Shoot Google Classroom and Student Google Accounts
  3. Chromebook Basics

  4. Chromebooks 101: This is a great video to watch for Kinder, First, and even 2nd-grade students.
  5. Chromebooks and Typing: This video shows how to get started in typing or keyboarding lessons

Ehrhardt is proud to congratulate Sharon Patten, a first-grade teacher, for being named ABC10’s December 2018 Teacher of the Month! ABC10 profiled Sharon Patten in a newscast! To see the story, click here:

Teacher of the Month/Teacher of the Year is ABC10’s way of honoring exemplary teachers in our community and say ‘thank you’ for their hard work. ABC10 viewers, students, principals, parents, family and friends nominate educators they feel deserve this title. Each month Sac State selects a teacher out of this pool of nominees to be honored as ‘Teacher of the Month, receiving a $1,000 dollar check from School’s Financial Credit Union, a profile story on ABC10 and, an awards banner for the school, two award certificates (one for school and one for teacher) digital logos and other prizes!

Plus, all nominees are put in the running for Esquire IMAX and ABC10’s ‘Teacher of the Year’ winning an additional $5,000 dollars courtesy of School’s Financial Credit Union. The ‘Teacher of the Year’ ceremony is held every spring at the fantastic Esquire IMAX Theater in downtown Sacramento.
