End of Year Social May 14th

Dear EGVA Families,

Please find attached our last EGVA Events calendar for this school year.  Wow…time has just flown by!  

Our End of Year Social will be held on Tueday, May 14 at Lake Natoma (off Hazel and Hwy 50) from 11:00-1:00. (Weather permitting)  Feel free to invite friends and family to join in this event. The more the merrier.

Be sure to pack your sunscreen and a picnic for your family to enjoy. (We will be providing dessert!)  At the Lake Natoma/CSUS Aquatic Center you will find kayaks, paddle boats, paddle boards, water bikes, and so much more available to rent should you wish to enjoy a water sport.

This area is also right next to the beautiful, American River Bike Trail for all you cyclists out there and short walk to the Fish Hatchery.  

Please RSVP by May 9 (so we know how much dessert to bringCool).

Inside Track Challenge and Breakfast

EGVA heads to:  The Inside Track Challenge & Breakfast

April 18, 2013, 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM 

 

Lace up your sneakers, call your friends, and pack up your little ones to join Arden Fair for the Inside Track Challenge, a one-mile walking course on the upper level of Arden Fair!  Arden will supply breakfast treats while you visit various vendor booths featuring healthy tips, trinkets, and motivators along the way!  Plus, it’s great exercise and bonding time with your friends, neighbors, or little ones – no sitter needed!

Sutter Health & Vascular Institute will be on-site testing your blood pressure, heart rate and more!

Bently, a Great White Pyrenees dog came to visit, along with his owner, Leeanna Cardin. After having fun reading and playing with Bently, we played some Twister.

A great time was had by all.

STAR Testing March 5, April 15, April 19

Get ready for testing.  Testing is mandatory of all students 2nd through 8th grades.  7th Graders start a little earlier as they have an additional writing test, but everyone 2-8 will meet in April to test.  If you foresee any issues with the testing dates, please contact your teacher ASAP.

Testing time is around the corner and writing comes first. Please click the link above for more info on the writing test that will take place March 5, 2013.  Your teachers will, if they haven’t already begin their class connects and provide resources in preparation for the testing soon.  If you have any questions please contact your teacher.

Kinder Testing

It’s time to come in and Kinder Test!!!! Ahh we love to see your children grow!!!   The first week of February Mrs. Lyons has scheduled kinder assessments.  If you have not scheduled your assessments or have any questions or concerns please contact Mrs. Lyons ASAP.

College and Career Fair on Monday, October 1, 2012, at Elk Grove High School

The Elk Grove Unified School District will be hosting our 20th annual College and Career Fair on Monday, October 1, 2012, at Elk Grove High School.  The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. with over a hundred representatives from colleges,  business and all military branches in attendance.  This annual event provides an opportunity for all students and parents from throughout Elk Grove Unified School District an opportunity to increase their breadth of knowledge in exploring the college enrollment process.  Families can visit with college admission representatives, various branches of the military, and meet with business and community organizations to explore many other career possibilities. 

Apple Hill Oct 26

We have  arranged for EGVA K8 to spend a fabulous autumn day at High Hill Ranch (Apple Hill….near Placerville, CA) on Friday, October 26 (this will be our PE Day for October, as well).  The scenery up there is breathtaking.   This is a wonderful working apple ranch with a lot of extras.  The cost is $4 per person and that includes a tour of the 70+ acre apple orchard in a hay wagon and apple refreshments.  There is a picnic area, fishing pond, candy factory, and much much more.  See link below.

Pumpkin Patch Oct 9

Dear Students and Learning Coaches,

Tuesday, October 9, 2012 we will be headed to Fog Willow Farms to pick up a pumpkin or two.  Fog Willow Farms is located at 11011 Cecatra Drive, Wilton CA 95693 which is about 15 minutes from Elk Grove.  Check them out at http://fogwillow.com/Pumpkin_Farm.html

We plan to meet there at 11:30am to take a group photo and check in with our classmates and teacher.  After that your free to browse the patch and take a hay ride.  Admission is $3 per person payable to Fog Willow so no need to RSVP. Come one, come all…hope to see you there!
