Hello EGVA Families!
Standardized Testing will occur for all our 3rd-8th grade students during the weeks of April 11-21 (All testing will be conducted at Feickert Elementary ). Please mark your calendars for your student’s specific times and dates .  If you have any questions/concerns, please contact the teacher in charge of your student’s grade level state tests.
3rd & 4th Grade Students :    Mondays (April 11 & 18)  8:30-11:30  (Mrs. Lyons is your testing teacher  mtlyons@egusd.net)
5th & 6th Grade Students:    Thursdays (April 14 & 21)   8:30-11:30  (Mrs. Williams is your testing teacher   JWILLIAA@egusd.net)
7th & 8th Grade Students:     Tuesdays  (April 12 – 19)     8:30-11:30  (Mrs. Dockery  is your testing teacher  cdockery@egusd.net)
5th and 8th Grade students:  in additon to the above dates for ELA (English Language Arts) and Math testing, you will have a Science test to complete. Your teacher will advise you as to the date and time for this additional assessment.
To get an idea of what is tested and how it is tested, it is strongly suggested that you sit with your student while he/she does the practice tests at:.  http://sbac.portal.airast.org/practice-test/
You do not need any student login information for this site. Just click on the green box at the bottom (it has a bicycle in it).  You will see where it says “please sign in” but just click on the “sign in”   You do not need a login name or password.  Next it will say  “Is this you?”     Select the grade level you want to practice in (toward the middle of the page) and click “yes”.
Then you will be given a choice of which test you wish to take.  I recommend starting with either the Math or ELA training  test, but you can check out any of the choices given.  Between now and April 11, it is highly recommended that you and your student go through each of the tests offered to familiarize your student to how the test works and what type of questions they may be asked to answer.  I recommend no more than 30 minutes of test preparedness at a time for 3-5th grade students and no more than 60 min for 6-8th grade students 2 times per week.

Expand Reading

The below link (you can find under links for students) has a lot of great alternatives to the Accelerated Reader (AR) program used in local brick and mortar schools.  For those of you looking to expand your student’s world of reading, you might find something of interest to pursue either now or during one of our school breaks.  (Spring, Summer, etc..)
